Another old medical program I remember from the 1970's was the show 'Marcus Welby, MD' starting Robert Young better known in earlier days as the father from 'Father Knows Best'. The show also had a costar by the name of James Brolin who played Steve Kiley, MD. Marcus Welby was a doctor known as a General Practitioner or GP that covered all specialties. Marcus Welby had his own office in the suburbs that if I remember right could have been an upscale neighborhood. Once again for a medical show it did cover various kinds of illnesses and diseases of the time from basic first aid to traumatic issues. Again, the way they acted really did not show how the real doctors and nurses appeared for real in a sense.

Medical Center
Other than situation comedies of the 1970's there were medical shows, and one that came to mind really just now was one named 'Medical Center' is starred Chad Everett and James Daly has two doctors in a community hospital. These two doctors were faced with injuries, diseases and even psychological issues that kind of affected us back in the day. As a nurse in today's world I remember how nurses had to dress from dresses and pantsuits to even wearing a nurse's cap. The doctors were always wearing suits, but today they just wear what they want unless they have a meeting or something. 'Medical Center' was a show that could give you an idea what this profession was about but only in a very general sense and really not very accurate but good television for the time. "I am not a doctor, but I play one on tv."

Angry People Click More: The Economics of Manufactured Dissent
(Ideas from the book The Economic Policy of Online Media: Manufacture of Dissent, Routledge, 2024) Abstract This article examines the formula ‘angry people click more’ as a core logic of contemporary online media and as a structural transformation of propaganda in the digital age. It argues that the defining feature of the current attention economy is not only the circulation of misinformation, but the systematic deployment of openly implausible claims designed to provoke moral outrage and sustain profitable engagement cycles. The analysis links Oxford’s 2025 Word of the Year ‘rage bait’ to earlier lexical markers of epistemic crisis such as ‘truthiness’ and ‘post-truth’, and situates this trajectory against the older ‘manufacture of consent’ model of Herman and Chomsky. While classical propaganda in totalitarian and mass-media systems sought ideological unity through censorship and the Big Lie, the emerging Propaganda 2.0 model, articulated by Peter Ayolov, monetises anger by manufacturing dissent and deliberately populating the public sphere with absurd, polarising narratives. The article interprets this dynamic through the allegories of ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ and Václav Havel’s greengrocer, showing how the move from fearful silence to permanent online rage changes both the psychology and political economy of propaganda. Drawing on Evgeny Morozov’s critique of fake-news moral panics, Frances Haugen’s disclosures about Facebook, and the documentary The Social Dilemma, it concludes that anger has become a tradable asset and that blatant lying has shifted from an authoritarian instrument of control to a market mechanism in a global ‘free trade in slogans’.

I loved that show. He was the mature doc and Vrolin the newbie with new ideas trying to get through to Welby. Relationships and medical drama …. Before this was Dr Kildare and Ben Casey.
I loved Marcus Welby, MD. Robert Young was everyone's favorite and beloved father. This was a nice trip back to childhood.
