Unsolvable Murder

Who done it?

A strange case

In this story, a hard boiled Detective in New York finds himself trying to solve an Unsolvable murder. It is a creepy story where the mystery is horror and the uncertainty is tragic. Enjoy!

Henry Stark had reunited with a woman he met in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. He first saw her inside one of the town's local diners, she was a pretty waitress who only looked 28 but was actually 37. The lady's name was Rosemary and she had been a waitress at said diner. She had taken a great liking to Detective Stark as he kept coming in to buy black coffee and cherry pie, as the investigation into Moth Man continued. Eventually, when the monster was slain (thanks to him and two teenagers) Henry moved back home to New York city. Not without having a farewell date with Rosemary however, inviting her to meet him again sometime in the big apple, if she could afford to take the trip down there. Rosemary had saved a fortune to come to New York a few months later and now the couple were reunited. Things hadn't been perfect, they had several differences. He was almost 43 so the girl wasn't on the same page in life as he was. The difference in age wasn't huge, but she rarely understood his old movie and TV references, which he quickly stopped spouting as it was more awkward than funny, considering she didn't understand them. Overall though, the couple got on more often than not. They were happy to be together, which is hard to find these days. Rosemary planned to stay in New York for the whole week, but by day three, the waitress disappeared. One night she was curled up in Henry's bed, the next; gone like the wind, almost as if she never came to the city at all. At first, Henry was heartbroken. He thought she just up and left, all without saying a word. However, that was not the case. Instead what really happened is this; she was murdered. He found out a day later, her body was found in a dumpster, decapitated, her pretty little head was sitting on a pile of black bin bags, a look of frantic terror still etched across her dead face. Henry cried, he never did this before when examining a dead body, he'd seen a thousand stiffs, all in gruesome positions, heck he had seen far worse murders than this before. Yet, none of those poor souls were the love of his life, the woman of his dreams; now dead. Like his worst nightmare had come to life. CCTV tried to capture the killer, but he or she was dressed entirely in black with a ski mask covering their face. Henry watched the scene in horror, as the killer pulled her into the same dark alleyway her body inside the dumpster was found. The beheading happened off camera, then her head and the rest of her body were dumped like a bag of shit. The killer ran off, never to be seen or heard of again. CCTV tried to follow the killer, but they seemingly vanished without a trace. There were surprisingly no finger prints anywhere at the crime scene or any on her body. It was like this murderer was a ghost, a fiction brought to life, only to kill and then disappear from a story. Almost like somebody had manifested this terrible event into reality, perhaps to spite the hard boiled detective. Henry couldn't fathom why anybody would want to do this. He searched endlessly for months for this mysterious killer, arresting similar looking suspects, interrogating hundreds. Yet despite all his experience and hard work, every lead ran cold. It was an unsolvable murder.
