Broken car

A murder mystery

Who did this?!

The following is A very, very tragic story about a scary, creepy murder mystery. One that involves a car collector named Tom Casey. He was a nice, old gentleman, who met a truly tragic death. One that he certainly did not deserve. One nobody deserved. Beware dear reader, for this story is incredibly sad. You might even cry.

Tom Casey was an avid car collector. A rich English man from London, one who watched a lot of racing on the television and often tuned into one of the many different car shows on TV. Tom even went to the cinemas to see all of the latest race car movies (or action ones that featured sports vehicles) anytime he could. Even at 45, the man had more video games than a teenager, all of which were driving simulators and racing games, he even owned every title of the famous car jacking game called Grand Robbery. There were posters and framed photos all over his house of vintage and modern cars, some were paintings, others were movie posters and some photographs too. The guy was obsessed. We all have our interests and hobbies, there's no shame in it. However, in order for Tom to get a hold of the rarest cars in the world, he had to get his hands dirty. Dripping into the hideous world of crime. Tom hired thugs to steal these rare vehicles he desperately wanted, he did this a lot over the years. That was until his misdeeds finally caught up with him. Tom climbed inside his favourite red sports car one afternoon, after a long day of managing his multi-million pound business at his office; he always drove the car around the British countryside to unwind after work. At first, nothing seemed wrong, as Tom drove the red car through his gates and onto the road. It was a beautiful summer afternoon, with weather like Spain rather than rainy old England. Everything seemed to perfect and calm, until he needed to brake at a sharp turn. Tom lightly pressed down the brake pedal, but it wouldn't work, so in a panic; he slammed the brake down hard. It still didn't work, before Tom even thought about using the handbrake instead; he already crashed 70 miles per hour into a solid brick wall! The rich fool never wore a seatbelt, so be crashed through the windshield glass and was squashed like a bloody bug against the wall, killing him instantly upon impact. It was a grizzly sight. Police presumed it was merely a fatal car accident, but upon further investigation, they soon discovered that the brakes had been tampered with and broken. Like something out of a gangster film, one where the rival mafia sabotage their target's car. CCTV footage soon surfaced, showing three masked men enter Tom's private home. They climbed under the car in the middle of the night, using tools to destroy the brakes. By the time everyone caught onto this, it was already far too late. Tom Casey had died, yet the investigation still went on. The intention was to find Tom's killers, instead Detectives discovered Tom's criminal past interacting with car thieves. It was obvious that one of them he hired must've missed out on a big payday and wanted revenge, either that, or he stole from the wrong people who then ordered a hit on him. Unfortunately, Tom Casey had so many connections to the criminal underworld, that it became impossible to track down who exactly was behind this act of sabotage. Eventually the case went cold, to this very day nobody knows who those three masked men were, or who they were connected to. Meaning Tom Casey's murder is still a mystery.

This story is pretty messed up. Tom getting into crime to get rare cars is crazy. I've seen people go overboard for their hobbies, but this is extreme. And that brake failure? Super sketchy. Makes you wonder if it was some kind of payback for his illegal actions. What do you think could've caused the brakes to fail like that?
