The Priest Murders: Unsolved Secrets and Answers
The Continuation of the Investigation and the Unresolved End

The connection to Tumi is evident through the belt buckle, which links him to the second murder in Arizona. However, this association appears tenuous on its own. Some believe that the key to unraveling the mystery lies in the church where Tumi chose to die: The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boise in 2018.
Father Fure, the priest who officiated Tumi's funeral, was later sentenced to 25 years in prison after it was revealed that he possessed thousands of images depicting child abuse on his computer. Additionally, online chat logs indicated that he had shared disturbing fantasies involving sexual abuse and even murder. He also expressed interests in slavery and Satanism, and he claimed to have contaminated the mass wine served to his congregation. Father Fure passed away in prison in 2020.
Father John Carrian was named in a list of 80 clergy members suspected or implicated in the sexual abuse of minors, which the Diocese of Helena was compelled to release following a class action lawsuit. Father Patrick Ryan has also been identified as an abuser, although it remains unclear whether he is the same priest who assaulted James Ros.
The other two priests mentioned have not faced direct accusations, yet both served in a diocese with numerous allegations against it. If the theories hold true and Tumi was indeed involved in the murders of these priests, one must question whether he had another motive for being in Boise that day.
It is possible that he had different intentions before ultimately deciding he could no longer pursue his plans, which involved me and perhaps another accomplice acting as vigilantes against the abuses occurring within the church. So, what truly transpired? The narrative I have presented consists of theories and events compiled over the years by individuals involved in the case, as well as those who have taken an interest in it later on.
To be candid, I have significant concerns regarding the entire situation. What we know for certain is that a man went to great lengths to conceal his identity before taking his own life inside a church in Idaho. While the links to various priest murders are intriguing, there is no substantial evidence connecting William Tumi to these cases, aside from the fact that he seemingly visited a gift shop in Arizona around the same time the murders occurred.
I am uncertain if I have overlooked a crucial aspect of the story; I have reviewed news articles, detailed reports, blogs, and listened to numerous podcasts, yet none clarify why there was such a strong belief that Tumi was linked to those murders beyond mere speculation. It is quite possible that Sergeant Frank Richardson possessed a piece of evidence that led him to this conclusion, but I am unable to identify what that might have been. Additionally, I feel uneasy about the involvement of Father Carrier and Father Rivera in this narrative concerning abusive priests.
It appears that there have been no allegations against the individuals in question. While a connection may be conceivable, I find it troubling that the two men who were murdered have been implicated posthumously, especially in the absence of any accusations or evidence against them.
This is particularly concerning given that one of the victims seems to have been targeted solely due to his role as the priest present that night. Similarly, the portrayal of Tumi as a potential serial killer, lacking substantial evidence, is unsettling, even if some view him as a vigilante punishing those who have harmed children. It is important to note that the links to the murders of Father Ryan and Father Carrier were established well before the crimes associated with Father Fure were revealed.
In the case of Father Ryan, one source indicated that three distinct sets of fingerprints were found at the crime scene, all belonging to men from the Odessa area; however, none of these individuals were ever charged, and all have since passed away. This situation not only adds to the enigma but also suggests a tragic miscarriage of justice concerning James R.
This narrative is quite peculiar, as it seems to encompass multiple mysteries simultaneously, with attempts made to connect them. Yet, the only person who could provide definitive answers died in that church in 1982. Additionally, in 2020, a new investigator took on the task of unraveling the Tumi mystery, but when he sought access to the case files,
What was found was merely a BHS copy of the unsolved mystery segment. The investigator later uncovered that the note discovered on Tumi's body had been retained by the producers of Unsolved Mysteries for unknown reasons. The police never retrieved this evidence nor did they follow up with the producers, prompting some to speculate that there were individuals who preferred to limit the investigation into William Tumi.
