The Fall from the Fourth Floor: The Murder of Ritika Singh
The Tragedy at Omshree Apartments

The Tragedy at Omshree Apartments
On the morning of June 24, 2022, residents of the Omshree Apartments in Agra’s Tajganj area were going about their daily routines, unaware that they were moments away from witnessing a horrifying tragedy. Around 11:00 AM, a woman in her early 30s fell from the fourth floor of the building. Her hands were tied, and her mouth was gagged. Locals rushed to help, but it was too late. She was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
It was immediately clear — this was no accident. The victim was Ritika Singh.
Who Was Ritika Singh?
Born in 1992 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, Ritika came from a modest, middle-class family. Her father Surendra Singh worked in Noida, while her mother Manju was a homemaker. Ritika had a younger brother named Utkarsh. Her parents had high hopes for her and enrolled her in a convent school to provide a strong educational foundation.
However, Ritika had dreams of her own. Rather than follow the conventional path of academics, she was drawn to social media and content creation, especially as platforms began to boom in the early 2010s. While pursuing a B.Sc. from IGNOU, she also enrolled in a blogging and social media course to follow her passion.
During her visits to her grandmother’s house in rural UP, Ritika met a man named Aakash Gautam — a man who would eventually destroy her life.
A Toxic Love Story
Aakash, smitten at first sight, was obsessed with Ritika. Though their meetings were brief and infrequent, Aakash pursued her relentlessly. Eventually, Ritika grew fond of him too. But she had no idea how little she actually knew about him.
In 2014, Aakash proposed marriage, promising her a secure life and a government job in the Indian Railways. Despite her parents’ disapproval, Ritika eloped and married Aakash through court marriage. This decision deeply hurt her parents, and they stopped speaking to her.
Sadly, their fears were well-founded.
Aakash’s claims of a job were false — he had never even appeared for the exams. In reality, Aakash had studied only till the 8th grade and was involved in petty crime and local thuggery. Ritika became his only source of income. He constantly demanded money and became abusive — mentally and physically.
Trapped in a Nightmare
Aakash was deeply insecure and suspicious of Ritika. He accused her of infidelity, especially when she left home for work. Once, in a fit of rage, Aakash and his brother even burned Ritika’s legs. Ritika learned that Aakash’s entire family had criminal tendencies — his elder brother was even accused of murdering their own father to inherit a government job.
Despite the torture, Ritika remained silent. She had chosen this marriage and felt she had no right to return to her parents.
Finally, in 2018, Ritika gathered the courage to leave. She moved to Firozabad and took a job at a private school. Slowly, she rebuilt her life. She began sharing fashion and self-care content on Instagram, gaining a small but loyal following. But Aakash was always lurking in the background.
A New Beginning Turns Fatal
During this new chapter of her life, Ritika met Vipul Agarwal, a married man going through his own troubled relationship. They found comfort in each other, and over time, they moved in together in Agra’s Omshree Apartments, flat no. 404.
In early 2022, Ritika decided to file for legal separation from Aakash and demanded ₹50 lakh in alimony. Furious, Aakash began tracking her obsessively, even hiring private spies to follow her.
June 24, 2022 – The Day of the Murder
At around 10:45 AM, Aakash arrived at Omshree Apartments with two men and two women. They claimed they were visiting someone in flat 601 and were allowed inside. But they had only one destination — Ritika’s apartment.
When Vipul unknowingly opened the door, the group barged in. Aakash and his men assaulted Vipul and locked him in the bathroom. Then, they turned on Ritika.
After a brutal beating and a heated argument, they tied her hands and feet, gagged her, and threw her off the fourth-floor balcony. In an attempt to cover up the crime, they rushed downstairs to untie her body and stage it as a suicide. But the loud crash had drawn neighbors, who immediately intervened.
The mob caught Aakash and his accomplices before they could flee. Police arrived swiftly, rescued Vipul from the bathroom, and arrested all five suspects — Aakash, his friends Chetan and Anwar, and the two women, Kusum and Kajal, who were known to call Aakash “brother.”
A Shocking Twist: Was There Another Mastermind?
While Aakash was clearly the killer, phone records revealed a disturbing connection — Vipul’s estranged wife, Dr. Deepali Agarwal, had exchanged multiple calls with Aakash right before and after the murder.
This led the police to a chilling theory: the murder may have been orchestrated by Deepali and Aakash together. Deepali allegedly blamed Ritika for ruining her marriage and had motive to eliminate her.
With mounting pressure from Ritika’s grieving parents, Deepali was arrested 40 days later and charged under Section 302 (murder) and Section 120B (criminal conspiracy).
Justice for Ritika Singh
All six accused — Aakash, his three associates, and Deepali — are currently behind bars. Ritika’s parents, who were devastated not just by her murder but also by the way her body was abandoned at the hospital, have vowed to fight for full justice.
Conclusion
This tragic case is a heartbreaking reminder of how one wrong decision can destroy a life. Ritika’s story is a wake-up call to all — especially those considering big life decisions like marriage, relocation, or even defying family advice.
