In November of 2018, while going to the Ga Supreme Court and Ga Court of Appeals I met the man that would fundamentally alter my life. I had been a Juvenile Probation Officer for Chatham County. Wrongfully terminated for nothing more than filing a grievance. I met Shawn, a Tow Truck driver with R. Mayer Towing. My car had died in front of the Court of Appeals in downtown Atlanta. AAA came out, wouldn’t accept my digital AAA card and so became the moment that over two years later leads to this article.

The American public regarded the 60s as our most divisive decade. Young people expressed themselves unlike anything ever witnessed in past decades. Americans opposed the Vietnam War, fought for civil rights and watched a man walk on the moon. Although Cincinnati was the birthplace of Charles Manson, there are other heinous criminals and crimes associated with Cincinnati. For example, the Cincinnati Strangler prowled the Queen City around the time when someone murdered the Bricca family. Today, authorities still don’t know who killed the Briccas.

She walked into work with formal black dress, well-done brunette hair, and a spirit refreshed from a good night’s sleep. She worked in a massive building since it was the corporate office to one of the largest tech companies in the world - 100 floors, beautiful staircases, small trees inside of the building, ivory floor and walls, expensive artwork framed in gold. Many people would have given their lives to work there since they paid an excellent salary and since they had terrific benefits.

Four decades have passed since Kevin Docherty lost his twin sister. But the pain he feels is still as raw as ever.As is his desperation for answers. Kay Docherty was asked by a girl at her school, Toni Cavanagh, to help her babysit on July 27, 1979. The twins’ mother Jean, who Kevin says was firm but fair, said no. Kay, 15, was bitterly upset – Toni was one of the popular girls at school and she wanted to fit in. “Toni had more freedom than any other girl at that age,” Kevin said. He has since found out that Toni had asked a few other friends at school if they wanted to go out that night for a disco. “Most girls weren’t allowed and my sister definitely wasn’t allowed out after dark.” Kay retreated to her room in tears when her mother refused her request. Kevin said his mother asked him what he thought. “I had band practice and I said to mum ‘I’ll take her there and I’ll pick her up in a couple of hours when I finish’,” Kevin said. Toni’s home was just around the corner from the family’s Warilla home. However, when Kevin returned to Toni’s place later that night, there was no sign of the girls. “Toni’s stepmother said ‘they’re not here, they went to the movies’.”

I was at a dry cleaning shop with my mom in her hometown of Bay Village, Ohio, where my family had recently moved. On January 5th, 2021, Benno Neumair reported his parents missing from the house they shared on the edge of Bolzano, Italy. Bolzano is in the Alto-Adige region or Italy—northwest of Venice, in the alps, near Liechtenstein. It’s an area where the locals speak German rather than Italian. In fact, when I was at a language school in Bologna, learning Italian, one of the other students at the school was a man from Bolzano. That’s right—he was in his mid-twenties, grew up IN ITALY, and was learning Italian.
