Grandfather Murder
It sits there in that house of horrors basking in the surreal calm. Its voice rings out alerting all of its dignified purpose, but what was its purpose now. It pondered on this realization, but cast it aside its purpose was unchanging despite being ignored. They lay before in stillness perhaps waiting for something that it could not comprehend, but in such an odd way they waited. It couldn't see them twitch in their sleep as he had seen a few times before when they took a nap on the sofa.

The Breaking Point
The handle was a golden rectangle in the center of a chocolate block of a door, which creaked open before I could even reach for it. A pale, wizened face beneath a swath of woolen white wisps and tucked into a strangling navy blue turtle-neck appeared from the gloom beyond. The denture-filled mouth cracked.

Lithium
When she moved next door, I could tell something was not right. There was a strong negative energy coming from her when she introduced herself, although she seemed pleasant enough. She was a single mom, but instantly it was apparent that her daughter was not her biggest fan - the tension was so thick I could feel it in my chest. My wife is a beautiful person, who assumes the best in everyone, and she felt I was being too judgemental about the neighbors without giving them a chance.

Highway 83
Highway 83 They call it the road to nowhere, stretching from Canada all the way down to Brownsville, Texas. I have been on every inch of that road, border to border, north and south. Though it may sound boring, I have found my fair share of excitement. Filled my memories with tales and scenes of the human drama, both comedy and tragedy and sometimes no way to separate the two.

A Criminal's world
I was unsure of whom I could trust telling details to about the case. I decided this time if I got a lead I would sniff it out and see what would happen. Then I came up with an ingenius idea one that only a smart detective trying to lure his prey out into the open would do. I decided to create false leads to see how soon and whom the information was transmitted to and when it got spread.

Missed Opportunity
The winter breeze nipped at my nose as I made my way over the bridge. The pond beneath was frozen solid, for a brief moment I found myself wanting to go down there and pretend I was an olympic figure skater just like I used to do as a kid. It’s strange really, you spend your entire childhood looking at grownups thinking they’re so put together. Only to grow up and realize that all those childlike tendencies are still there just suppressed by the societal demand to grow up. If you ask me, the world would be a much better place if everyone let go of this idea that as you get older you’re no longer allowed to build forts and dance in the rain.
