FACTS
Bonnie Lee Bakley was a con artist who hustled men for their money and committed a variety of other crimes, including identity theft. She often hung around with celebrities and attempted to become a singer.
Former little rascal and “Baretta” star Robert Blake met Bonnie Bakley at a party. He married her because she became pregnant by him.
Bonnie stayed in a separate house next to Robert’s mansion.
Blake took Bonnie out to eat on May 4, 2001, and walked her to the car, only to go back into the restaurant to retrieve his gun. When he was in the restaurant, Bonnie was shot in the head by an unknown assailant and died in the car.
The police arrested Robert Blake for the murder of Bonnie Lee Bakley, even though the gun that killed Bonnie was not the same gun that Robert Blake had in his possession.
Robert spent one year in prison awaiting trial before he was granted bail of US$1.5 million. Robert Blake was found not guilty of murder due to a lack of evidence.
However, he received a guilty verdict in a civil court case brought against him by Bonnie’s children and was fined 1 1/2 million dollars. Robert Blake’s eldest daughter has custody of his daughter Rose and refuses to let Blake see her because she claims that he is unstable.
Ode to Robert Blake from the deceased Bonnie Lee Bakley.
I tried to con you for money and fame
by giving you a baby and taking your name.
You wanted the baby for your own,
so you married me and took us home.
Divorce was never meant to be.
It would cost you too much money.
Much cheaper, just to hire a hit
with YOU being the actor in the bit.
During my last meal, I thought I had it made.
I thought it was the smartest card I ever played.
I thought that I hit the jackpot,
but I was unaware of your plot.
When you left me in your car,
I thought you wouldn’t be going far.
When you went back to get your gun,
I didn’t know it was my last run.
I didn’t know what hit me.
It happened so fast.
I should have known
good things don’t last.
You shed no tears, but tears of joy.
I know you played me like a toy.
But, I bet it wasn’t in your plan
to become a lonely, bitter man.

FACTS ABOUT THE CASE
I, like most of the public, believe that Robert Blake killed Bonnie Lee Bakley by hiring a hitman to kill her.
From what I read, Bonnie was not a nice person.
She was a con artist with several identities. Ironically, Robert Blake married pregnant Bonnie so his childless daughter could have a baby to raise as her own.
Now both daughters have nothing to do with him.
Robert Blake is lonely, broke, and a very angry man, as seen on his last TV interview.
No one remembers him for his accomplishments, but just for the murder of Bonnie Lee Bakley even though he was found innocent. Everyone has deserted him and he cannot find an acting job.
Today, Robert Blake is a sad, broken man.
