Reason First: The Roots of a Massacre-The Columbine High School Murders
Can ideas start or prevent deadly scenes?

In the over two decades since two teens entered their high school committed wickedness, the United States has sustained over 230 school shootings, excluding universities and colleges in a study in 2019 according to the Washington Post. Feature films have been inspired, Oscar®-winning documentaries have been shot, and dozens of talk shows and current affairs programs have covered this case. Psychologists have dissected the reason behind the carnage of that day in April 1999.
But how many of them can pinpoint the exact reason? Was it because they played violent video games? No, millions of people play games with gore and acts of brutal force. Was it because they were bullied? Former President Obama was bullied because of his ears and he made it to the highest office in the land.
So what was it that drove these two brutes? It did not consist of the websites they constructed that included horrific messages that spoke to death threats against their classmates. Had they been focused on a more constructive site, they could have been Mark Zuckerberg and Dustin Moskovitz. So, they looked up bomb-making materials...how many students have researched bombs for litany of wars that have been waged over the centuries? So, it must not have been that.
Like rapper Marshall “Eminem/Slim Shady” Mathers who gained fame around the time of the massacre, said, “So they blame it on Marilyn [Manson]/ and that heroin/ Where were the parents…?”
This is to suggest that the music, including Mathers own vicious rapping style and the lack of parental control led to the disaster. No. Again these suggestions all remain conjecture and have no basis in reality.
What is the “logic” that drove these two individuals to do the worst? Ideation. Minus all of the media influence, the Internet site, the absence of parental intervention, both of these boys had the idea to destroy. They did not have any thoughts, just ideas. What does this mean? It showed that their evil ideas took over and replaced their more thoughtfulness to ideas of tearing into flesh at the point of their firearms.
No video game, album, television series, or website can force someone to do the horrific. These boys leaned towards a vicious code embedded in their consciousness. This code was neither mystical or social. It was anti-man, anti-reason, and anti-life. Their ideation brought them to a place where they said their fellow students and teachers meant less than a speck of dust, that irrationality was the key to their dysfunction, and the lives of other humans never prevented them from taking as many lives as possible.
With all of the analyses that have cropped up over the years, few if any have shown ideation to be the root of this massacre. Sure people will blame anything and everything in attempt to assuage the fear and loathing that these teens brought about.
Ideas are all that people like the murderers have. They don’t have anything but the will to destroy. They pick up weapons to take the lives of innocents. In this case, it was thirteen. This means that thirteen lives, according to both of them could be sacrificed to satiate their hunger for bloodshed. This ideation stems from the (Re)gressive school system which doesn’t teach phonics, how to think critically, or to value the mind. Now you may say, millions of people go through this system. Why don’t they commit atrocities? It is again, all about ideas.
The feelings and ideation that remained in the shooters (and bomb throwers) consisted of complete unselfishness. What is this exactly? It is the relinquishing of the self to be used as chattel or meat to any ideology. Selflessness means that an individual has given up his or her own identity to put it towards something out of their range of being. They’ll still own their body but their mind will forever belong to whatever passerby that they might encounter.
Ideation should only concern the selfish. Selfishness is the way to embrace the ego and show that the individual is the sole, indivisible entity in the universe. These two killers had no sense of self. All of their actions spoke of unselfishness and selflessness. Without proper selfishness, they never stood a chance against reality.
That’s why they committed suicide. The end of the road in their minds showed them the sign for self-destruction.
Why did they have to demolish lives before falling at their own hands? They had the idea to disrupt as much as they could and to check out on their own terms. This is in no way the proper way to commit suicide. In appropriate conditions, they could have taken their own lives if they lived under dictatorship, lived to advanced age, or had a debilitating disease.
The real disease was ideation. Thoughts continue to be the difference between a murderer and a maker. There’s no telling what productive careers that the murderers would have had. While it will never be known, one thing is for sure. Ideas exist for production and destruction alike. It takes the individual to choose which path to take.
