Night of Meth-Filled Sexual Torture Ends in Teen's Death

Summary- 13-year-old Jesse Dirkshising was found dead in the home of a homosexual couple he had spent the weekends with for the previous two months. He was bound and gagged, tied to a mattress when police found him unconscious. He died in the hospital, his cause of death ruled positional asphyxiation with amitriptyline overdose. The men had been molesting Jesse for two months, giving him money for “playing games” with them. Josh was the main perpetrator in the crimes. Both men received life sentences.

STORY-

Jesse William Dirkshising was a 13-year-old 7th grader living in small-town Arkansas in 1999 when he was found dead at the home of Davis Don Carpenter and his boyfriend, 22-year-old Josh Brown. Jesse’s mother, Tina, knew Davis well and gave him permission to spend weekends at his home under the premise that her son was helping out at a beauty salon Carpenter owned. Jesse had spent weekends at the salon for the past two months and had money to show for his hard work. The truth about how Jesse earned that money would come out, but not until the boy was dead.

It was September 25, 1999, a night Josh described as “fun and games.” As usual, Jessee spent the weekend at their home. Although Josh said he and Jesse had a “sexual relationship” for the past two months, he’d only used objects on him until this night.

Josh snuck up behind Jesse, tied his hands behind his back, and bound him with duct tape. Davis helped him tie Jesse to the bed, then placed a bandana over his eyes and a T-shirt over his head to keep him silent. Josh then bound his knees and ankles with a belt to hold his legs together.

Meanwhile, Davis went to a grocery store, purchasing items that he'd later use to molest Jesse. Police found a receipt on the table from September 26 at 3:07 p.m. Eckrich smoked sausage, two cucumbers, meat, and duct tape were some of the items listed on the receipt.

When Carpenter returned, Josh untied Jesse’s wrists and secured them to each side of the mattress, turning Jesse onto his stomach over two pillows. He then forced several objects into the boy’s rectum, including a cucumber, sausage, douche bottle, and other items, leaving him bleeding and imbole. He then prepared and administered an enema using his own urine as the liquid and forcefully inserted it into Jesse. He then had anal sex with Jesse.

Davis stood in the doorway watching the acts, masturbating while he watched. He said he then went to bed while Josh continued repeatedly raping Jesse.

Several hours later, Josh went to the kitchen to make himself something to eat. It was then, he said, that he noticed Jesse was unconscious. He woke Davis, and the two discussed cleaning the scene and dumping Jesse's body. They realized that would not work since Jesse’s parents knew he had been with them. Davis decided to call 911.

He’s Not Breathing

“He’s not breathing, he’s not breathing,” Davis screamed when police arrived at the Sunset Drive address. Police found Josh Brown completely nude. Davis led police to the bedroom where they found Jesse tied to the bed and gagged with his own underwear. He had fecal matter on his genitals and abdomen. EMT transported him to the hospital where he later died. His death was ruled a homicide, positional asphyxiation with amitriptyline overdose.

Two Months of Molestation

Josh and Davis molested Jesse in the two months prior to his death. Josh said he did not penetrate Jesse with his penis, describing their encounters as “foreplay.” He said he gave Jesse money as a “gift” for playing foreplay games with them.

It is unclear if Jesse willingly participated in the acts as the men suggest or if he was drugged and forced into the acts. In either case, adults have no business engaging sexually with any child, it is a sick crime. Under Arkansas law, a child under 16-years old cannot consent to sex in any capacity or form.

Police took Davis and Josh to the police station for interviews. Each man blamed the other for the horrific incident. Both insisted that Jesse willingly participated, although police suspected otherwise. Josh told police that he was high on meth at the time of the incident.

Josh & Davis Arrested

Josh was arrested for second-degree battery and assault on an officer after the interview. Police later charged him with capital murder and six counts of rape.

During a search of Carpenter’s home, police found pedophilic material, including instructions on how to sedate a child, photos of a boy tied up, and notes detailing fantasies of molesting children. Davis gave this information to Josh to help him torture and rape Jesse.

Davis was arrested after the search. He later told police “it was all fun and games that got out of hand” during his interview at the station.

Josh & Davis Sentenced

Josh Brown was convicted of rape and sentenced to 25-years in prison. The jury deadlocked on the murder conviction sentencing, but a judge sentenced him to life without parole. He currently serves his time in the East Arkansas Regional Unit at Brickeys.

Davis Don Carpenter was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in April 2001.
