Man Who Killed 13-Month-Old During "Exorcism" Granted Stay of Execution
Blaine Milam beat Amora to death with a hammer

Blaine Milam called 9-1-1 telling the dispatcher he thought he had killed his 13-month-old daughter. Police found the girl badly injured and unresponsive. She later died from the attack and Milam was sentenced to die. He’s twice avoided death after two separate judges have granted him a stay of execution based on his mental competency.
Milam, who has a 4th-grade education -he dropped out of school at this time-heavily used methamphetamines before the murder, which he called an exorcism.
The last stay of execution came shortly before January 21, 2021, the second date set by the state of Texas for the lethal injection.
Escape From Jail

Milam was 19 years old in 2008 when he was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail after breaking into a home, going through the belongings of a 13-year-old girl who resided at the home. He then wrote obscene notes on pictures he cut out from adult magazines detailing how he wanted her to perform each sex act. Milam was charged with solicitation of a minor and given a six month jail sentence.

During work release 48 days into his sentence, Milam left the program. He met Jessica Carson, the mother of beautiful 13-month-old Amora.
The Crime
The pair hit it off and spent all of their time together. Several weeks into the relationship, Milam decided Amora was possessed and needed an exorcism. He convinced Jessica that Amora was evil.

Together, Jessica and Blaine beat Amora atop the head and body with a claw hammer, leaving injuries the Forensic Pathologist described as “shocking.”
The end result of this “exorcism” was Amora’s death. The beautiful infant sustained 24 bite marks on her body, starting at her head and going down to her toes. Amora suffered lacerations of the brain and her sex organs were severely ripped.
All of the injuries described above occurred while Amora was still alive.
Blaine called 9-1-1 telling the dispatcher he thought he just killed his daughter. He changde his story several times.
The Medical Examiner could not determine exactly which injury killed Amora due to the severity of her injuries. Her death was, however, ruled a homicide. Jessica and Blaine were arrested and subsequently convicted in her death.

Blaine was sentenced to death while Jessica was sentenced to life in prison.
Texas Death Row & Inmate Executions
Texas leads the nation in the number of executions carried out since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976. Since 1982, the state has carried out the executions of 573 people.
Only seven states carried out executions in 2021, Texas among them. Three inmates were put to death. In 2020, the U.S. carried out seven executions, three of which took place in Texas.
In the past five years, Texas has set 80 execution dates for death row inmates. Of them, 32 were stayed by federal courts, 12 dates were withdrawn, one resulted in clemency, and 35 inmates were executed.

Milam should be the 36th inmate executed.
- He knew right from wrong
- Amora did not tell Milan to screw up his brain by smoking meth
- Amora did not get a choice
- He escaped from jail at the time he hurt the baby
- Some people are evil. If the man is mentally incompetent coupled with evil, since the majority of people with mental illness do not hurt other people, what purpose does he serve in this world? (OUCH!)
- He is guilty; Jessica testified against him
- The court sentenced him to this punishment
- Prisoners learn how to adapt to prison. It's not a punishment for a psychopath. Approximately 16% of all prison inmates in America suffer from some type of psychopathy . 93% of adult male psychopaths are incarcerated or on parole or probation.
