When I Wore Blues, Pt III
Part III Once I arrived at the medical department, it took about an hour for me to see the doctor because she was out to lunch. Once I saw the doctor, the nurses needed to give me an IV to get saline into my system. I was deemed extremely dehydrated. Unfortunately, the medical staff at the jail was not the most competent. In their attempt to give me an IV, they missed my vein four times—twice in each hand—completely blowing my veins out, and I had good veins. Finally, the nurses managed to find a vein and I began my first bag of saline.

On January 6th of 2002, The Boston Globe's 'Spotlight' team—formed by reporters Michael Rezendes, Sacha Pfeiffer, Matt Carroll, Ben Bradlee Jr, and Boston Globe editor Walter V. Robinson—took the first step in uncovering a decades' atrocity: the sexual abuse of children by members of the Catholic clergy. They began their investigative journey by focusing on local abuse cases within the district of Boston. Their first article, titled "Church allowed abuse by priests for years" was published on the date above, and was followed by over 600 additional stories that dug deeper into the problem and led to discoveries around the systematic abuse of the clergy in covering up the assaults.

The Death Penalty
The death penalty was something we all learned about in school and the responses regarding its legality have never just been black or white. Some agree it serves a purpose of justice and others find it inhumane and believe it serves no justice but in fact contradicts itself. I found it fascinating that so many people believed so many different things and decided I wanted to dive into this and see if anybody could convince me that my own opinions were wrong.

Creepy Neighbor
It happened to me when I was 13 and at an age to where many girls go through body image changes, and I was one of them. I didn't look like other girls my age. I already was well-developed and had the body of a grown woman, which made me very insecure. I was really obsessed with weight loss and had really low self-esteem. There are also fellow inmates in prison who hate other inmates for their crimes. Some of the other inmates can't even stand being around them. But aside from the inmates, police officers loathe some inmates, too, whether they're a killer or a political activist.

Eliminating Bail
Bail is when money is given to the court so a defendant can leave jail until their trial; it's also a promise that the defendant will show up for that trial. But if a defendant cannot afford a thousand dollar bail, guilty or not, they’re stuck in jail until their trial. America needs to remove the bail system. Bail does extreme harm and very little to no good.
