When it comes to true crime have you ever wondered if you share a star sign with a serial killer? Although star signs do not really reflect a person's motives, it is an interesting notion that some star signs seem to house more serial killers than others!

Only 25% of people in western society still place faith in horoscopes, but still, 90% of us know our star sign! 55% of us do believe that a star sign has an element of influence over our personalities.

In terms of the common traits, many serial killers are charming, funny, and likable characters. Unlike film and media who often depict killers as being rejected by society. 

So, let's take a brief look into the star signs of some of the most notorious serial killers in history…

Star Signs and Serial Killers

💨Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 18)

Aquarius is one of the most trusting star signs in the zodiac, but if you break a promise you will see another side to this sign! Known to have a severe distaste for boring people, they are always on the lookout for excitement. Could this lead to serial killers who lash out and kill just for fun or because of trust issues? 

Gary Ridgway, (born on February 18, 1949) was known as the "Green River Killer" and was responsible for the deaths of nearly 50 women in Washington state, before finally being captured in 2001.

Robert Hansen, (born February 15, 1939), was often referred to as the "Butcher Baker", due to the fact he owned a bakery! In 1984 he confessed to the killing of 17 women.

Luis Garavito, (born January 25, 1957), Known as "The Beast", raped, torture, and murdered over 100 children and teenagers, according to The Guardian newspaper.

🌊Pisces (February 18 - March 20)

Dreamy, highly creative, sweet, and sensitive Pisces, but they hate criticism and tend to hold grudges. This star sign has over 25 serial killers linked to it!

So, who are some of the worst? Let's take a look…

Aileen Wuornos (Born February 29, 1956): An angry woman who had many issues with men from her past experiences. She killed several men, seemingly without remorse.

John Wayne Gacy (Born March 17, 1942): The infamous killer who liked to dress as a clown and was featured in an American Horror Story. He certainly seemed to be artistic and creative in his killings. 

Dennis Radar (Born March 9, 1945): A family man who got away with his crimes for many years. He was caught because of his desire to be infamous and to toy with the police.

🔥Aries (March 21 - April 19)

Determined, confident, and very competitive, but also known to have a fiery temper and be impulsive. Aries are strong leaders who enjoy challenges that can lead to success in all walks of life, including the darker side. However, they do not do well at dealing with failure. 

Keith Jesperson, the "Smiley Face Killer", killed 8 women across the United States. Jesperson got his name as he liked to sign his letters with a smiley face!

Alexander Pichushkin, A Russian serial killer who is said to have killed as many as 60 people.

🌎Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

Although persistent, reliable, and hardworking, those born under Taurus are known to be stubborn and extremely possessive. They need to feel in control and don't cope well with change.

H. H. Holmes Deemed to be the first documented serial killer (1861) in the long and bloody history of American murder was H. H. Holmes. Holmes built an eerie "murder castle" in Chicago, which had many soundproofed rooms and mazes of hallways, some of which seemed to lead to nowhere. An intelligent, devious man who chased money more than anything else. Holmes, claimed to have been possessed by Satan, was hanged for his crimes on May 7, 1896.

Michael Ryan (Born May 18, 1960): The man behind The Hungerford Massacre. He armed himself with assault rifles and launched an attack on his sleepy, suburban community, before killing himself. A crime that forever changed Britain's firearms laws. No firm motive for Ryan's act of mass murder has ever been established, but he killed 16 people before finally turning his weapon on himself.

David Copeland (Born May 15, 1976): Known as the London Nail Bomber, Copeland was your average Neo-Nazi scum who made it his mission to kill and maim anyone who wasn't as white and as crazy as he was.

Albert Fish (Born May 19, 1870): One of the most well-known serial killers in the US, his nicknames included 'The Gray Man' and 'Werewolf' of Wysteria. A real-life Bogey Man, Fish was a child rapist and a cannibal. If this serial killer birthday matches yours, then you're entitled to feel a little sick right now.

Martha Beck, 'Lonely Hearts Killer,' together with her partner Raymond Fernandez she is known to have killed three and may have killed up to 20 more in a murder spree between 1947 and 1949.

💨Gemini (May 21 - June 21)

The charming Gemini is seen as nervous, gentle, and indecisive, traits you wouldn't expect to see in a serial killer. This sign does not work well with routine, always seeking new adventures. Their adaptability can help them to fit into any new environment and social circle, which means they can hide any dark side better than most. 

David Berkowitz (Born June 1, 1953): Also known as the 'Son of Sam'. A loner who shot multiple people, apparently because he worshipped Satan, but mainly because he had a few screws loose.

Jeffrey Dahmer (Born May 21, 1960): The stereotypical serial killer. He was a loner, he abused animals as a child, and he performed unspeakable acts on living and dead victims. He brutally murdered 17 men.

Peter Sutcliffe (Born June 2, 1946): Better known as 'The Yorkshire Ripper'. He killed women during the 1970s because of what was described as a "severe distaste for women".

🌊Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

Cancer does not like it when someone criticizes them or their family. Moody and tenacious this star sign is prone to lashing out. If you believe in astrology then you might expect this to be one of the main zodiac signs for serial killers. However, I could find very few serial killers born under this star sign. 

Robert Maudsley (Born June 26, 1953): Responsible for the death of 4 people, three of which he killed while he was in prison for the first murder!

🔥Leo (July 23 - August 22)

Leo's the narcissist of the Zodiac, arrogant with a big ego. They like to be seen as the most important person in the room. Leo's like to be the centre of attention and can be self-centred. 

Myra Hindley (Born July 23, 1942): The Moors Murderer-one of the most infamous female serial killers in the history of the UK.

Anatoly Onoprienko (Born July 25, 1959): Active in Ukraine and known as Citizen O. One of the world's worst serial killers based on the number of victims he claimed.

🌎Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

Gentle, nurturing and a real perfectionist Virgo has a keen sense of organization and planning. Virgo's are more likely to be harder on themselves if something goes wrong. On the darker site their caring nature if not left in check could become smothering and stalkerish.  

Albert DeSalvo is also known as 'The Boston Strangler' was murdered in a high-security prison where he was being held. 

Ed Gein was known as the 'Butcher of Plainfield' or the 'Plainfield Ghoul', influenced the Hollywood slasher movies, including Norman Bates and Leatherface.

💨Libra September 23 - October 22

Often considered gentle, well-balanced, and caring, with a severe distaste for violence, the Libra does not look like someone who would kill, let alone kill multiple times. Although that said they hold a high sense of justice that could easily turn dark. 

Fred West (Born, September 29, 1941): A man who murdered alongside his wife and was known to torture and kill young girls, including his own children.

🌊Scorpio October 23 - November 21

Scorpio, a resourceful, secretive yet violent sign. Seen as truthful but stubborn, the Scorpio can also be very manipulative and get very jealous. Traits you wouldn't be surprised to find in serial killers.

Nannie Doss who was known as the Giggling Granny was a Scorpio. Before she was arrested, she had just murdered her fifth husband.

Charles Manson, needs no itroduction, he had ordered his 'cult' to murder him and was sentenced to life in prison because of it.

Moses Sithole (Born, November 17, 1964): A deranged serial killer that we looked at in our Black Serial Killers article. He was violent and secretive, but also deranged.

🔥Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

Sagittarius is a sign that is seen as reckless and seeks out adventure. They also are known for lacking tact and empathy. Could that factor into the reasons why the most notorious serial killers tend to be born under a Sagittarius star sign?

Ted Bundy, (November 24, 1976) and went on to admit to killing 36 young women across several states in the 1970s, according to Biography. He's also known for escaping from prison twice and evading police until he was finally captured.

Rosemary West, ( born November 29, 1953), The wife of Fred, also from the UK, killed at least 10 young women.

Edmund Kemper, also called the 'Co-Ed Killer' and is a giant–he stands at 6'9″. Kemper killed 10 people including his grandparents and mother. He also helped FBI profiler John E Douglas understand the mind of a serial killer.

🌎Capricorn (Dec 22 to Jan 19)

Family-centred Capricorns are said to have as many dislikes as there are things in the world! In other words, there will come a time and a mood where everything is hated by them. They like to climb high and have success, but what happens if something gets in the way of their success?

Harold Shipman (Born, January 14, 1946): Known as Doctor Death, he killed hundreds of his patients in the UK using large doses of morphine. 

Stephen Griffiths (Born, December 24, 1969): Known as the Crossbow Cannibal, he killed three women in Bradford, England.

Is there a link between star signs and serial killers?

Meg, Miller a criminal astrologer, however, believes that the star sign most likely to be associated with serial killers is in fact a Capricorn. Whilst author David Jester did a number's crunch and the research showed Taurus.  

The Pisces, Sagittarius, and Gemini star signs all seem to have produced many of the most well-known serial killers in history too - connection or coincidence? What are your thoughts?
