Ca$h Out reacts to life prison sentence, choosing trial over plea deal, comparisons to YSL trial, cellmates with Lil Durk & YFN Lucci
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
Ca$h Out: Speaking From a Life Sentence, Choosing Trial Over a Plea, Misconceptions, Cellmates & What He Wants the World to Know
In one of the most emotional and eye-opening interviews I’ve ever conducted, Ca$h Out called in from prison to speak with me for his first in-depth conversation since receiving a life sentence. This moment wasn’t about sensationalism. It wasn’t about exploiting anyone’s pain. It was about giving space to someone who has lived through a system many people misunderstand, while still holding respect for all parties affected by the charges, the trial, and the events that led to this point.
Ca$h Out began by explaining why he chose to take his case to trial instead of accepting a plea deal. He spoke openly about how he didn’t want to plead guilty to charges he says he didn’t commit, even though the risk of going to trial was extremely high. That decision—one he made fully knowing the consequences—ended with him receiving a life sentence. Hearing him break down the thought process behind that choice gives a completely different perspective to a story many people assumed they already understood.
One of the biggest things he wanted to address was the public reaction to his situation. Over the years, so many narratives, assumptions, and misconceptions have been attached to his name. In this conversation, he shared how it feels to be judged by the outside world while fighting a case from behind bars. He also talked about the emotional toll of being locked up for years and how that isolation affects your mental health, your relationships, and even your sense of identity.
Ca$h Out also revealed intimate details about his time in jail, including being cellmates with Lil Durk and YFN Lucci. These are relationships most people know nothing about, and hearing him reflect on those personal experiences sheds light on the human side of incarceration—something often ignored in public conversations around high-profile cases.
We also discussed why his trial wasn’t live-streamed as originally expected. According to Ca$h Out, the attention surrounding Young Thug’s YSL case created backlash that impacted the visibility of his own proceedings. He believes the public didn’t get to see key parts of his trial—details he feels would have changed how people perceive what happened. Regardless of where anyone stands, it’s important to acknowledge how these interconnected cases influenced one another in ways the average person would never know.
Throughout the interview, Ca$h Out spoke candidly about family—how much he loves and appreciates his mother and cousin, how becoming a parent changed him, and how it is being an active father behind bars. He reflected on his early career, his upbringing in Atlanta, and the people who helped him along the way. He also touched on the respect he has for artists and producers he came up with, and how music shaped the man he became long before prison ever entered the conversation.
This interview was approached with care, sensitivity, and respect for the complexity of the situation. I wanted to give Ca$h Out space to speak for himself while still recognizing that real people were affected and real lives were changed. Nothing about this story is simple or one-sided. But honest conversations matter, and hearing someone speak their truth—no matter how difficult—opens the door for deeper understanding.
If you value raw conversations, nuanced storytelling, and accountability from all angles, I encourage you to watch the full interview. It’s available now on The Progress Report’s YouTube channel, website, and audio platforms.
