An Oath To Protect

What a joke

I live next door to some colourful characters who like to live on illegal substances, which turn them into crazy human beings………..although calling them human is a stretch.

On 9 August I was outside walking my cat. Thankfully I was near my carport, when I hear my female neighbour heading my way; screaming, yelling and shouting abuse, along with my name in an extremely volatile manner.

My cat and I rush into the carport and hide, crouched down, in front of my Ute, praying she didn’t see me.

To be honest I am terrified.

She reaches my front deck and starts bashing on my front door, all the time yelling nonsense and abuse.

Then she does the unthinkable!

She opens my front door and enters my house (as I was outside I’d left the door unlocked……lesson learned).

I panic because I know she’ll be able to see me through my lounge room window any minute. I scoop up my cat, scurry through my back gate and hide in my backyard, absolutely terrified.

Here I am, an almost 60 year old woman, and my neighbour is a big-boned twenty something year old, out of her mind on some substance.

No, I’ll hide from that, thank you very much.

Finally, after about ten minutes I hear my front door slam and she trails abuse back to her house, which allows me to rush to my front door, let myself in and lock it behind me.

I notice immediately that she’d moved things around in my house and left her hoodie laying across my lounge chair.

I promptly call 000 and explain the situation to the police.

Sadly, they didn’t even bother to ask my name but did say they had a car just around the corner and would send it around.

Here we are, a month later, and I’m still waiting for one of our finest to at least turn up to give me a welfare check!

The following morning I phone Policelink wanting a report on file of what had happened but the police refuse to take a report. Their exact words were, “I’m not trying to be nasty but, it’s not against the law for someone to scream and yell at you.”

WTF! What don’t they get about the fact she entered my house?

Over the next two weeks, she has been prowling around my house in the dark of the night, screaming and peering into my windows.

I’ve got all these prowling episodes on video.

Twice I rang Policelink to ask for help as she truly scares me.

Twice I was told there was nothing they could do as she was not breaking the law. Apparently, people are not trespassing if they are in your front yard, at your front door, even if they are screaming and peeping into your windows.

No, apparently people have every right to access your front door…….so again I was told she’s not doing anything wrong!

Don’t you just love the way the police protect Australian citizens?

A couple of weeks ago I was able to video some aggro woman over at my neighbour’s house, screaming abuse and threatening to kill the crazy woman that’s been stalking me.

Karma! She’s getting a taste of her own medicine.

Then she straight up disappeared.

I had to wonder if the aggro woman had indeed carried out her threat.

It’s been blissfully silent for the last two weeks.

Until…..

An hour ago, I was woken to someone bashing on my front door……..it sounded like they were trying to break it down.

What on earth? It’s 3:40am.

Then I hear her voice yelling my name through the window.

Oh no, she’s back.

For a good ten minutes I lay here and listen to her yelling through my window. She was talking crazy, even yelling that I better write my phone number on a piece of paper and stick it to my front door so she can come back and get it later.

Not bloody likely!

She’s gone back to her place finally but there’s no chance of me catching anymore sleep tonight.

I’ve also learnt there’s no point me ringing the police because they’re too lazy to give a damn!

The joys of our Australian police system where the crazy have all the rghts and the innocent are left to fend for themselves!

So sorry you are living under such a threat. I guess a small consolation is that she supplies fodder for writing challenges, but I do pray you get help soon.

  • Why are the police so useless?! Like why do they wanna wait for something even worse to happen before they take any action? So dumb!

Unbelievable!!! Something is terribly wrong. Keep documentation written and video evidence of trespassing and terrorist behavior. Stay safe, my friend!!!❤️❤️💕

This is mighty scary, Colleen. I am so sorry you are going through this. I mean really, what has to happen before the police will do something?
