Months have passed since my last heartfelt confession, and I'm amazed at my heart for its resiliency. Despite the pain of rejection, it has found the strength to heal and move forward. But I have never thought it would open once again, completely defying my core promise. I could have sworn never to fall in love again, especially within the same batch and degree program. But, to my surprise, someone crossed the boundaries and entered my heart. As far as I remember, it was a rather hurtful yet memorable experience.

It happened last semester. I entered the classroom with jitters. There was a heavy weight on me in everyone's gazes. Amongst those probing eyes, yours stood out like a vibrant flower in a plain field. They were dark, a coal-like color in its raw form, but held an enigmatic charm. With each step I took, those deep eyes followed, keeping me mesmerized until I settled into my chair. There was a silent spoken language sealed in the depths of your gaze. It made me ponder what stories those eyes tell and what secrets they whispered to the world. It was a connection that seemed to live between us, a hidden gravity that defied explanation. Our paths continued to intersect, and with each encounter, you greeted me with a kind smile. Your smile, accompanied by the adorable dimples that adorned your cheeks, possessed an irresistible charm, etching itself into my memory. And those moments were enough to spark the glow of my heart once more. It was another affection inside me, a fire that illuminated my hollow heart. However, the fire that burned brightly in my heart was extinguished all too soon. I discovered that you had already achieved solace in someone else's embrace.

It was an event in our degree program where contestants walked the stage with their beauty and elegance. Amidst the excitement, you confessed your feelings to him, presenting a huge bouquet, a reflection of your deep affection. The crowd erupted with shouts and encouragement, and your eyes sparkled like a blue ocean bathed with sunlight. But they were not looking at me; they were fixed upon him. From the front row, I witnessed the entire scene, feeling as if I was in a romantic movie, but only a background character. Luckily, you didn’t notice my presence, as tears welled up in my eyes. It would have been an awkward and embarrassing moment had our gazes met. Upon arriving home, I realized that the person you had confessed your love to was my other crush. It felt as though I had been struck by a double blow from every side of my body. In the wake of that event, I found peace in brushing it off, allowing the passing weeks to slowly erode the lingering attachment I held for you. Like a candle melting in intense heat, my feelings vanished, leaving behind a newfound perspective. It was indeed a valuable lesson, a reminder that some things are simply beyond my control.

As time marched on, my life continued in a blur, each moment blending into the next. However, during these times, the unexpected occurred—our paths met once again. During this summer, I found that you had experienced the pain of a breakup that carries sadness upon your shoulders. Although our sail still crossed, and we exchanged fleeting glances, something had changed. It’s sad to think that you had transformed from the person in my heart into a mere classmate, a stranger in our shared academic adventure.

Your vibrant charm has diminished and the sparks that used to illuminate your eyes are now a shadow, a mere silhouette of your once enchanting gaze.
