Secrets
Beyond These Walls
The woman standing in front of me is my neighbor but she doesn’t know it. She lives in the unit on the other side of my flat’s northwestern corner wall. And as much as I'd like it, we may not actually share a wall at all, just the empty space in between plywood sheets where mice and rat droppings—and hopefully no snakes—might be found.

How a Tragic Death Awakened My Soul to Who I Truly Am
My name is Debbie and I am a Spiritualist and a medium. Yes, I speak to dead people. Ahhh, it feels good to say it. It took me a very long time to come to terms with who I really am. I have always been shy, compliant, and a law-abiding citizen who was always trying to please everyone even if it was at my own expense. I never argued or belittled anyone, nonetheless, anger anyone in any way. It was always me sacrificing myself for someone else’s benefit. I was also a Christian though this phase in life was only to drown the voices in my head, my intuition, and the apparitions. But it all changed on that dreadful night in July.

Cheater. Top Story - December 2021.
I’m cheating on my husband. Two nights a week I wait until my husband leaves before I meet my love at the scheduled time. My husband is a professor and often needs to attend evening events at the University. I await those nights with anticipation. As daylight falls, I prepare and serve dinner, clean up the dishes and tell my husband how wonderful he is for working so hard and supporting our family. I breathe a sigh of relief as he finally walks out the door, coming back one more time because he’s forgotten something; his glasses, his wallet, his keys. He always forgets something. And he always comes back.

True story- the time I dumpster dived Krispy Kreme
One time in school, a friend of mine was bored and didn't want to study anymore. We were both post grad and working on some projects so studying was more like a daily grind for both of us. Anyways, it was late at night and she propositioned me with a risky idea: dumpster diving.

War's Children
I W “Wine?” I hesitated. JP stood in front of me with a half full glass of red wine in his hand. He was barely taller than me with deep Cocoa skin. He had no visible scars or missing limbs. His eyes were full of kindness and warmth. A far cry from what I had envisioned an ex-child soldier would look like but even so, there he was, a glass of wine in his outstretched hands playing the good host.

Letters to Vita
“My Dearest Vita, I found your company charming and exhilarating, your mind is attractive to me. Since knowing you Vita, I loathe any activity that you are not involved. Some may say this sort of attachment is obsessive. I deem it only habitual, an acquired behaviour that you have extracted from me. My eyes open and rest with thoughts of you, I have never been so enchanted before than as I am now. I am utterly at your mercy; the feeling of non-reciprocation might end me.

Recipe for New England Chowdah. Top Story - December 2021.
Recipe for Chowdah Step one: It’s a family secret Step two: Make a roux ...... Being the youngest of a huge family comes with its perks. You get the soft version of everyone for the longest. My uncles gave me nicknames when I was six that still are stuck with me today. Names like Baby B, or Marvin because I was always starvin’. As the youngest, I am shielded from the confusing parts of the family. Like how both my grandparents are from Boston but now we all live on the West coast. Or why all 7 of my uncles had to join the military to pay for school. There are always family secrets, some more severe than others.

I Was the Other Woman, and It Was (Almost) Exactly What You’d Expect
Have you ever noticed you were a cliché? For me, it was when I was having an affair with a married man. He was much older than me, married with three kids. A charismatic, powerful man who knew exactly what to say to make people do exactly what he wanted.
