I'm Realizing I May Have Never Really Grown Up. Top Story - September 2023.
Fair warning, I am not an interesting person by any means. I usually struggle to come up with fun facts about myself whenever I'm introducing myself to a new group of people. But, I thought this was a fun prompt and hope it will help me with having some fun facts in my back pocket for the future.

This is the Prayer & Confession
Today, September 3rd, 2023, was a day of change in our home. I watched my adult son borrow my old truck to move more of his things to his first home, which will be entirely his own. Suddenly, the lyrics of Harry Chapin's song "Cats and the Cradle and the Silver Spoon" came to mind.

the priest: explanation and analysis
I just finished a story called 'the priest'. It's probably the most personal piece of fiction I've ever written. Regardless of who reads it, I wanted to explain the story a little bit and how it relates to me. I've never done this-- never analyzed a piece of my own fiction, and it feels silly, but it also feels kind of important? Like talking about myself might deepen any readers' understanding of it. Like writing this will get some things off my chest.

Get To Know Me #challenge. Top Story - September 2023.
A fun and easy challenge that I think will be a very lighthearted way to get to know each other a little more. We all bare our deepest pains in our poetry and weave them into our fictional tales but who else are we? What are some of the things we do for pleasure behind the scenes of our writings? What are some things no one would likely guess about you?

Ally Way
I was probably six years old the first time I ever saw an autistic child. It was when I was in the first grade and I was walking with my class to lunch and we walked past a boy who was wearing a white t-shirt, holding his shoes in his hand, with a lot of drool dripping down his mouth and he was moaning and groaning. When he first caught my eyes I just laughed at him pretty hard. A couple classmates of mine also laughed too because we didn’t understand his conditioning. My first grade teacher softly shut down our laughter by simply saying “He’s a special boy just like the rest of you”. Over time in my life I would end up seeing a lot of individuals like that young boy I first saw back in first grade. What I never imagined is that one of them would end up being near and dear to my heart and would give life to a special kind of love in me that I had previously never known, a love that would change me.

I 'm Leaving Vocal And Facebook
Sorry about the clickbait title but you know damned well what I am like. Grammarly just told me to split clickbait into two words and when I did, it then sold me I had just to use a single word. Then the Vocal editor auto-refresh kicked in and wiped all the corrections that I had put in.

CONTENT WARNING distressing language, suicidal thoughts, pregnancy, traumatic labor Fear and Shame I'll never forget watching Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith with my father. He was so excited to show me these movies. Episodes IV, V, and VI came out during his childhood, and he wanted to share his love for the series with me. He was as excited as a little kid. We made popcorn and settled in front of the big screen with the surround sound blasting, ready for the experience of a lifetime. The rise of Darth Vader.

Bipolar or Spiritual Awakening?
At some points along the way, I have hoped that I was "crazy". The strangeness of the things I have experienced in the last dozen or so years, which eventually led to my bipolar, and then schizoaffective diagnosis, has often been unbearable to deal with.
