Climbing for 9/11: Why We Walk
In between September of 2013 and 2015 my I saw my former high school English teacher, who I am close friends was posting on social media about this event she was taking part in called the 9/11 Stairclimb. She informed everyone following her that the event was a fitness and commemoration tribute to the rescue workers who perished at the World Trade Center on September 11th 2001. I thought it sounded like an interesting event to take part in because 9/11 had a big impact on me my whole life growing up. In 2021 on the 20th year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks I would finally become active in the 9/11 Stairclimb.

My Preference Is Fun And Happiness. Top Story - September 2023.
Introduction It does amaze me that in almost every area of social contact, the stuff that gets traction is stuff that complains, whines, hates and causes controversy. Often rules smashers are eulogised while those that spread fun and real good news are ignored.

Knowing Me, Knowing You
I'm writing this for Kayleigh Fraser's Get To Know Me #challenge! I love this idea, so thank you Kayleigh! I think it's fascinating how different we all are. Especially on a platform like Vocal, being able to learn about the people whose work I read daily is just so amazing. I love learning about other people's lives.

Loneliness is a problem in Australian culture.
The deepest truth about people, in my opinion, is also the sweetest and noblest truth about us, and that is that we are social beings by nature. As such, we depend on all neighborhoods, communities, families, and groups of all kinds to nurture us, protect us, and even to help us.

Turn away please, while I get naked.. Top Story - September 2023.
I’m low on juice this week, at a low ebb. Down in the dumps. A little overwhelmed by life and a little sad. I want to thank a few of my fellow creators (shall I name them? They know) for picking up on this oh so subtle blue tint that has appeared in my writing and checking I am ok. It was nice to be asked. And nice to feel that there is community here. Imperfect, variegated, but present. Unlike me. I have not been terribly present, and I forgive myself for that. Is there some way of filing for later stories I want to read but haven’t had capacity for? They’re landing like micro plastics in the ocean this week and I have the bandwidth of a maternity nurse 9 months after the war began.

Thursday and I'm Looking Back
In high school, we had a personal development class. After being split into small groups, we were told to share our strengths and weaknesses, our hopes and fears, our personal experiences. The personal development coach, who for some reason was also our PE teacher, surveyed the class afterward. I was voted as the one who shared the least about themselves. I’m going to try to make up for that now.

The Other Sides of Me
I feel that in part, those that read my writing (the poems especially) know the most secretive parts of me. The dark and sad and vulnerable parts. The history of my childhood that stains almost everything I touch. It's always joked amongst my friends that my writing is not what you would assume I would write, if you spent any length of time with me. I'm quite the sunshine person and usually laughing or humming to myself. You know a small glimpse into the frail parts of my heart, but not the whole of who I am. So, when I saw this challenge, I delighted in the idea of partaking as well as getting to read others. It can be quite shocking to match an author with facts about them and is a good reminder that we are more than the words we leave here.
