Embarrassment
Memoirs of a Clumsy Girl: Muddle Puddle Mayhem
Drip. Drip. Splat. The sounds echo in the silence of the giant gymnasium turned exam room. Just ignore it and keep writing, keep the focus on the questions. Drip. Drip. Splat. An annoyed sigh floats across the room from the professors at the front. Drip. Drip. Splat. A snicker from the back of the room had me writing faster. How did I manage to find myself in this place?

My Most Embarrassing Therapist Moment
I always thought being a Therapist meant I had to be perfect all of the time. I was completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in a state far away from my family at a time when my life was anything but “perfect.” I worked 60-70 hours a week and didn’t know how to take care of myself.

Where do Babies Come From?
At what age did you stop asking yourself, "where do babies come from?". Do you remember the exact moment that you put two and two together, and realized the true process to the creation of life? Well, I can assure you that every person that I know stopped asking themselves that question long before I did. Welcome to a life of pure childhood innocence. Welcome to a life where pertinent information was withheld from a child for far too long. Welcome to a life where a teenager wasn't able to get a date to the dance because they believed that babies were born out of their mother's behind. Welcome to my life.

The Painted Lady
Now, I have quite a few tattoos. For the longest time I never got any tattoo below the bicep, so I could at least cover them up for work and so on. It got to the point where I would forget about them at times or just didn’t register them when I saw them in the mirror. But when I began teaching in Japan I took even greater care to never show my ink, I would even thicker or darker shirts to prevent the dark ink from showing through the cloth. Even at the height of summer which, lemme tell you, was quite awful for a woman who was built for colder climates.

Moment To Overcome
My sister's music can be heard from the room next door, muffled and indistinct. I roll over, stifling a yawn as I reach for my phone to check the time. It's six in the morning, still dark out and chilly. We're both meant to be ready to leave the house by eight. The team is dancing today for the annual Latin Festival! We had all gone the year before and been reinvited. With energy beginning to bubble from excited nerves I sit up, stand and grabbing my makeup bag. Brushing my teeth and lathering my face with a gentle cleanser I finish in the bathroom, going to knock on her door. Entering, I find her already sitting on a pillow on the floor, her mirror at her side and her own makeup spread around her. For the next hour and a half we sit chatting comfortably, singing along when a shared favourite song comes on. With our makeup done and both our hair pulled up and back into high slick buns, we help each other attach the flowery headpiece just above the left ear. It's tricky because having used an unseemly amount of hairspray to lay our hair smooth and neat, it's troublesome to get the pins to stay, not to mention needing to make sure the flowers are secure enough to dance. Our hair and accessories must stay in place for the duration of the set. Having said that, I carefully pull several strings of colorful beads over my head and adjust them at my neck, setting them straight along one another. Breakfast consists of oatmeal for me and toast with butter for my sister, my dad joins us in the kitchen with his cereal and we talk about the day before us. As the clock flashes seven forty five, we rinse our dishes and hurry back to our rooms, packing our dresses in black garment bags. We each were lent three dresses when we joined the team. They are made of bright blues, yellows, reds, purples, and greens. They had all been brought from El Salvador by the leader of the group and were very special. Gently and efficiently I zip close the bags and recheck what else I've packed; a water bottle, a couple of snack bars, a small container of dress pins and hair clips, deodorant, a perfume bottle, two bottles of hairspray, my phone charger, headphones, my wallet, sandals for onstage, and lastly a change of comfy clothes for after the show!

I was Booed Off Stage at a Black Comedy Club
I am 70 years old and have been doing stand-up comedy at open mic nights for over 30 years. I worked for an international software company based in Holland and traveled the world. It was a great opportunity to travel to many US cities and I attended an open mic night every chance I got, especially bigger cities like San Francisco, Chicago, St Louis, and many others. I usually had no problem embarrassing myself on purpose as my comedy centers around my size. At 6’6, 375 you can bet that I get noticed when I come on stage. I have a standard set that is timed perfectly at 5 minutes so that comedy club managers know that I will not abuse my time slot.

Field Trip Fail
I have very little talent.I'm one of those kids that was gifted in element and then it was downhill from there.I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. No athletic ability to speak of.However, the one ability i do have is the skill of avoidance. That very technique is how I ended up in the trees.

Was I Really That Pathetic
There are moments in life when you look back and you ask yourself, 'What was I thinking?' Believe me I've done this a lot when remembering things I've done. However, there is once incident that stands out as my most desperate, yet humorous.

No Regrets, But Still Mortified...
Earlier in my career, as a licensed medical massage practitioner, I made a mistake that left me mortified; and yet, after 15 years, when I think about it, it leaves me cringing with the emotions of fear and of disbelief. It all started when my business was less than 5 years old, and everything was going according to plan. I was on a high with achieving all of my goals and everything was working out in my favor. One would have thought that I was kissed by a lucky lady bug or touched by a lucky leprechaun, but I wasn’t. Anyhow, one day, a client invited me to be a part of a business expo (some call them business conventions), that allowed businesses to showcase their products and services, to a community of other like-minded business people. I immediately accepted the invitation, as I attributed most of my success on having a very aggressive marketing and advertising business plan for my company:

Hello DCF
Yes, that kind of text. The kind that keeps your marriage engaging, that says "I'm an unwrapped gift waiting for you." If anything, we should be celebrating that a couple 15 years into their marriage (one of us having a midlife awakening/crisis) are still enjoying each other. But DCF???? How???
