The Painted Lady
Now, I have quite a few tattoos. For the longest time I never got any tattoo below the bicep, so I could at least cover them up for work and so on. It got to the point where I would forget about them at times or just didn’t register them when I saw them in the mirror. But when I began teaching in Japan I took even greater care to never show my ink, I would even thicker or darker shirts to prevent the dark ink from showing through the cloth. Even at the height of summer which, lemme tell you, was quite awful for a woman who was built for colder climates.

Capitalist Breadlines
The above photo is from November the 16th, 2020. Not decades ago, not years ago, this is the scene from just four days passed at the time of this article being written. This America. This is one of the wealthiest counties in the world and people are lining up in scores to receive food that they most likely could not afford on their own. If this is not shocking to behold then I don't know what would be.

Behind Abandoned Iowa
Invariably as time marches on we as humans will leave many things in our wake, both tangible and intangible. As civilization pulls back from the rural areas of the American Midwest more and more structures are abandoned and left to the slow decay of time. Mitch Nicholson, the published author behind “Abandoned Iowa: Vacant Heartland”, has developed a passion and art in the documentation of these remnants of human life. Armed with a camera and a desire to share what he finds, Mitch has garnered a following when it comes to photos of the abandoned places around the heartland. On the 9th of November I accompanied Mitch out into the field to see just what his work entails and to ask him how this passion came about.

Unified Worldwide
Video games have come an incredibly long way from their rather humble beginnings (at least from our point of view now). Many folks can remember going to the arcades with their friends, lining up in front of their favorite game to spend what allowances they had on some mere minutes of gaming. Yet all the while forging memories and friendships that would go infinitely deeper. While video games have changed from their bulky exteriors to smaller platforms we could easily have in our homes, they have ever continued to bring people together. Now, with the advances of the world wide web, people are brought together in numbers previously unheard of and its hard for any doubters to write off the appeal or popularity of video games.

The Genshin Condition
I believe it can be safely said that 2020 has been rough, while there have been some upsides to this train wreck of a year a few really jump out at me and "Genshin Impact" is one of them. Featuring detailed character models, spectacular splash art, beautiful environments, and engaging combat I knew this game would be a hit. "Genshin" brought along all the hallmarks of an enjoyable game as well as some other neat features that made it a fast favorite as it gained a dedicated following.

Delays In Game Development
At the time of writing this, November 5th 2020, the much anticipated game of the year, Projekt Red's "Cyberpunk 2077" has had its release date delayed and pushed back to December of the same year. Understandably a number of fans are upset as they feel they have waited long enough for what could very well be the biggest video game release of the year. Delays in release dates is nothing new to any avid gamer, having to wait through several delays and watching the release of their much anticipated game get pushed back further and further from their grasp. Yet despite this event being nothing new in the world of video games there are still those among the fan base that become openly agitated and at times hostile upon hearing that a title has been pushed back from projected release. This attitude is quite damaging to the world of video games and throngs of gamers as well as game developers. While its okay to feel bummed that the game you're anticipating has been pushed back from its initial release it is not okay to take an aggressive stance with the game's developers.
