Everyone Needs a Hug , Even Elvis the Cow
Love at First MOOOOO : Teaching Children to Love Animals
Companionship and Compassion for a Cow
It starts with love. . .
“You ain’t nothing but a Hound Dog . . . ” — Elvis
“Cyin’ all the time” — ELVIS. the cow thought alone . .
Having always loved animals all my life, I remember one day a dog followed me home. He was attacking baby ducks, so I yelled at him to stop, so he did. Then I told him he was a good boy. He loved that and followed me home. As I kept telling him to go home, he became more loving and attached to me.
I had to take a picture of him, post it online to find the owner. Oddly, even cats I do not know discover me and would rub up against me and want to be with me. Tall wild turkeys become my friends, and I even have a skunk in my yard at times who is not afraid of me. While going through cancer treatments, cute squirrels will walk right up to me, and one squirrel even touched my shoes. Someone walking by was shocked, but I am used to it. Foxes and other animals would visit my yard, for I live in the country.
I so feel at home with animals and think often they are more advanced and more honest than humans. If a turtle is crossing the road, I will stop my car, get out and pick it up, so I doen't get run over. I grew up with no animals, for my father didn't like them.
However, Elvis the cow held a special place in my heart.
Elvis the Lonely Cow: Love at First MOOOOO
The secret is to not stare at them and to welcome them into your heart, the fourth chakra. I have practiced yoga all my life and love to be with animals. Then they trust me, follow me and want to connect with me.
I loved to walk a lot around my neighborhood; however, one one day, I noticed a cow close to my home, alone, sad, and bored. I thought he needs friends, so one day, I told my kids that Elvis lived close to us, and my kids rolled their eyes.
I walked them to meet Elvis the cow. As my kids went to the fence, the cow seemed to perk up. Indeed, he walked up to them, and I told them to pull grass out of the ground and feed it the cow.
They did and put their hands through the fence. Happily the cow ate the grass, and I told them Elvis use to be a famous dancer and singer. I tried to do my best hip dance moves as they continued to feed Elvis. I told them that Elvis was reborn as a cow and they laughed. My daughter laughed the loudest. This made the cow happy to have attention.
Everyday, we returned to feed the cow, and it became the highlight of their day. My kids so loved Elvis the cow, and equally, Elvis so loved my kids. Later we adopted two dogs from the pound and they loved being loved by my kids.
To this day, my daughter will not eat cow meat because she remembers Elvis. Later we actually visited the home of Elvis and my kids love it. My daughter asked where the cow was?
Thank you for reading this, for I am a vegan and do not eat dancing cows. . . I miss Elvis but love to watch dance videos.
It starts with love. . . Love all animals and everyone. . . . Stop the wars. . . .

Interesting read...while Elvis the cow is in your heart, beef is in my belly, though. Your story reminds me of the Carpenter's song, https://youtu.be/elEs0GjkHws
A very beautiful journey into the world of animals and into your own life. I like your ability to convey genuine emotion and sensitivity for things that move you and have value in your life. I love animals too, and I believe they are incomparable lovers of companionship. They feel and cry more than humans do, many times, for your own pain. I cannot put meat in my mouth because I grew up with cats and dogs. I live in the countryside, and it is full of cows and a few donkeys. Not like me—just a little more sensitive. Thank you for softening my heart.
