Across the Desert
**Chapter 4: The Predator and the Prey** --- Before the family of Alvarez lay an unending expanse of desert, which was devoid of life and quite severe. As the family made their way down the mountains, the heat became more intense, and there was again, a change in the area. The meager shade cast by the cliffs was soon replaced with endless desert areas, where every hill seemed like a desolate wasteland. There was no time to stand in wonder of the land – survival was the only focus.

Harper's Hill, Chapter 5: A Town Filled With Faces
Fall in Harper's Hill was always beautiful, even on the East side of town, where there wasn't too much that looked all that pretty. Travelling over the hill during Fall was nice, because Emily got to be at the top of the hill and see all of the trees changing colours. The forest looked like it was on fire. But it was also bittersweet, because she knew that Winter was coming, and she had a hell of a time with the big hill when it was covered in ice.

Chapter 3 :The Harsh Desert The Alvarez family woke up in the wee hours first; the cold prick of a still biting desert were not itchy. A vigilant coyote, who was always at the ready, gave them the cue to go and quickly prepare for the move. The night was sleepless with the cold of the desert entering their bones, yet they should still move. Whatever seconds are left, they need to amplify their wcarsnkljoosh or whatever it is they are into. Restless was the night with the desert's chill reaching their bones, but they had to move on. Lack of time was a serene reminder that their race through the threats of the burning desert was right next to them, together with a solid ground of border patrols most of the time.
