Prolog The definition of sound can be “(a) Oscillation in pressure, stress, particle displacement, particle velocity, etc., propagated in a medium with internal forces (e.g., elastic or viscous), or the superposition of such propagated oscillation. (b) Auditory sensation evoked by the oscillation described in (a).”[4] Sound can be viewed as a wave motion in air or other elastic media. Here, sound is a stimulus. We can also view sound as an excitation of the hearing mechanism that results in the perception of sound. Sound, in this case, is a sensation.

Not much came from outside anymore. He remembered in his childhood when junk tankers came in from the badlands to sell metal and plastic scrap and scavenged biomass. Now everything was produced in the city’s recyclers and bio-towers by the corporation, so the harbor district slowly starved and decayed to its present run-down and melancholic state.

A Merry Little Christmas to Us

My cruiser partner and long-time buddy, Tucker, had invited me to his place so I didn't have to face spending Christmas Eve alone after our brutal call earlier in the night. We had been dispatched to look for a missing senior citizen, who ended up wandering away from a home and freezing to death. We were both pretty shaken up by her death and didn't need to be alone and thinking about what we could have done better to prevent it.
