I have been working on this fiction book for sometime now. The book will be released soon and I thought I should share a Chapter from my book, hope you enjoy.

Cracks in the Empire

David was born into poverty. His family struggled, but he later became wealthy by investing in multiple businesses, including casinos, bars, and clubs. As he built his empire–much of it through illegal activities. David eventually owned two private jets. His older brother, Pete, was his business partner and fiercely loyal. Pete would do anything to protect his brother. David was a big tall man with an intimidating personality. he was about his money and wouldn't hesitate to eliminate anyone who got in his way. He also married his high school sweetheart, Jane a beautiful woman who gave up her entire family to be with him. David promised she would never have to work again, and in return, Jane stayed by his side. Eventually they had their first child, a boy named Chris. Chris was so adorable and chunky with a warm brown complexion. His parents loved him dearly. The arrival of Chris also brought tension into the household. David had recently discovered someone was stealing from his casino, but he didnt know which employee was responsible. Frustrated and paranoid, he began taking out his anger on jane. The constant crying of the baby only added to his stress, and David often left Jane alone to deal with everything. Jane, isolated from her family and overwhelmed, wanted more from life. She had dreams to travel, work, and explore life. David wanted her to stay home. When she suggested hiring a nanny, David refused. “No, he said. I don't trust anyone in our home after what happened.” But it's one of your employees stealing from you,” Jane argued. Why should I have to suffer for it?” David didn't budge. The tension between them grew. He began disappearing for days at a time, returning home late or not at all. When Jane confronted him, he brushed her off. “It's work related,” he’d say. Deep down, Jane had a feeling he was cheating. David wanted her to believe he was only upset about the stolen money. He pet her in the dark, and it only made him angrier. One night, David left again to meet Pete at the casino. Jane stayed home, with a crying baby in her arms. With no one to turn to, she made a decision she would hire a nanny without David's permission. After searching, she came across a woman named Lora. who had excellent references and passed the background check. A few days later, Jane conducted an interview. Lora was a perfect fit, and Jane hired her on the spot. Jane was so excited. Finally she found someone who could help her with Chris. She walked away smiling, hopeful for a new beginning and life she could reclaim for herself. That evening, Jane cooked a huge dinner and even baked his favorite dessert: apple pie. When David came home, he sat down to eat. “I hired a nanny,” Jane said quietly. David exploded. He flipped the table, sent the food flying across the room. “You went behind my back?” he yelled. Without another word David stormed out, and did not come back. Days passed, Then one morning Pete showed up at the door. “Is David here?” he asked. “No,” Jane said. “ he's been gone for days. I don't know where he is…and I'm worried.” “I'll find him,” Pete promised. The next day, Pete finds David at the bar–with another woman. He pulled him to the side “Yo bro, where have you been?” Jane was worried sick. Everyone thinks you're missing!” Before Pete could say more, David cut him off. “I don't trust her,” he said. Pete frowned. “Is this about the employee stealing from you? What's really going on?” David turned to him with a cold glare. “I do not want to talk about this right now. stay out of my marriage.” David then announced, I've got a new girlfriend. “She's who I'm with now.” Pete stared at his brother, stunned. “Do you trust her? A new woman?” David didn't care. He continued the affair with his new girlfriend Miryam. David started spending money recklessly, partying, and developing a drug addiction. While David was out destroying his family, Jane was home, bonding with Lora. As Chris got older, Lora noticed troubling signs–he was acting out more and more. His behavior became difficult to manage.sometimes, when chris was uncontrollable, lora would pop him. she wasn't supposed to lay a hand on the kid.
