Trickles of water ran along a wall like little streams with other tributaries. The Collectivists all sat outside of this wall and gnawed on granola and drank kombucha.
“They want what?!” Socialista asked incredulously.
Common Man lifted his hand in the air and made a wooshing sound. “They’re going to make a bucket load of cash off the backs of Delawareans. All because they want to surf the stars.”
“You know,” Fascinder piped up. “It used to be a joke to say that private individuals should be part of the space program. The government shouldn’t even be doing it. We’ve got people on this planet who need jobs.”
“What do you care, Fasc’?” Socialista asked.
“Of course there are starving children who need our help. You just want to rule thoughts and actions.”
“This is true. With the government there to put a gentle lock on the companies to keep them regulated, we will have a better State,” Fascinder explained.
“This is a hit against everyday people. The kind of disrespect to the child outside of a hut, crying for her father is unacceptable. How dare they put rockets in the air when people can’t even have the basic necessities,” Common Man reflected.
“That’s why we must stop them,” Fascinder suggested.
“And how do we do that?” Socialista asked.
“We influence the makers of the rockets.”
“When you say influence….” Common Man asked, “What do you mean?”
“I mean we kindly show them and we tell people at the executive levels not to deal with the Individualists.”
“So we kill them,” Socialista intoned.
l didn’t say that, but….”
“We just have to use our ideas. They’re deadly enough so far as some people say. We know our ideals and can lead people to hang themselves,” Common Man mentioned with smokiness.
