
Still contemplating the missing novels at the library, Loreen journeyed into Wilmington for a ribbon cutting ceremony. To mark the next building project with Collier Zayne real estate group, she had been tasked with photo ops.
The property gave a face lift to the dilapidated buildings that once existed there. Loreen knew that she wanted to shift the city in a way that would rectify its darkest reputations. She stood out there under a cold sun in a smart coat and smiled as she held onto huge scissors.
Most people would rejoice that the project created nearly four hundred positions, allowed relatively cheap living, and amenities. Not Socialista. She spoiled the party just with her presence.
“Don’t mind me when millionaires and billionaires kick people out of their homes and businesses,” She whimpered.
“It’s okay,” Loreen replied. “We won’t.”
Socialista then skulked to the back of the scene. Her whole goal was to upset the entire crowd; they never paid her any attention. That was until she used a loudspeaker.
“Today, you are seeing the ruling class take over our humble city. We are being forced to comply with the dictates of the few so the many can be thrown out on the street. This must stop!”
Loreen calmly looked at Socialista. It was a look that spelled the latter’s defeat.
“Socialista, you’re over with right now. No one is taking you seriously. This project presents something missing in our city, state, and nation. That spirit to make and create to build is a thoroughly American ideal. You are not. Bye!”
Socialista’s face turned sour. She withdrew herself once again, this time for the good. The crowd applauded Loreen.
“Businesswoman, everyone!” Mayor Foreman Venter opened his hands and showcased Loreen. Her head flung back and her chin canted. She breathed.
