3-2-1-0 - Countdown

Introduction

Although it's not really a special number, I like the 3,210 descending sequence, and it is an excuse to use Lindsey Buckingham's excellent "Countdown" song, which has been a favourite of mine since I first heard it.

Another song that I think should be included is Public Service Broadcasting's "Go", based on the launch of Apollo 11, if you haven't heard it, listen now:

3-2-1-0 Countdown

It seems we are always counting down to something, although I prefer it when it is a countdown to something good. I did count down to writing this story.

I count down to holidays and meetings with friends, sometimes it is for work. On Vocal, we count down toward Challenge Closing Dates, and when the results are being released, although recently they have become much more common, so maybe do not carry as much excitement as we wait.

We count down to pay days and billing days, though it is sometimes nice when you forget you are being paid or are going to get something and it comes as a nice surprise, but not nice if you forget about a bill or get an unexpected one.

We count down when we have to get up, after the alarm has sounded, and when we have to go to work (if we do work), then we wait for a bus or walk (which is what I will be doing later today.

I, and others, are counting down to the release of my next book with The Glittering Fox, which I hope will be before the end of the month.

I will take my first train journey to Barrow in Furness to see my dad next week, and the week after, it is Preston, down the west coast, for my sister Yvonne's birthday.

Conclusion

So you see, I'm counting down to many things on a continual basis, and we probably all are.
