Learning To Kindle
Self Publishing Using The Amazon Software

Introduction
I have just self-published my sixth book in Kindle, Paperback and Hardback format and while it was still a bit of a trial, it is probably the easiest one that I have done so far,
All my books use my Vocal writing as sources and the first one was a total accident.
One of the problems is that each format requires a separate upload, and because it is OK for an eBook, doesn't mean it will work for Paperback, and because it works for Paperback doesn't mean it will work for Hardback.
One of the benefits of publishing on Amazon is that books are printed to order so there is no need to buy a print run, so there needs to be no financial outlay from you.
So this is my publishing history with some notes on each book. The links will be to the UK site so if you want to buy one you will have to visit your country's Amazon site. I find that slightly annoying but it is what it is.
The music is "The Book Of Love", Peter Gabriel's cover of the Magnetic Fields song, and if you want to hear me try and play it it is on my YouTube Channel here.
The Ha'Penny Dreadful: A Collection of Unusually Worrying Stories
Published: 19 Dec. 2021
This was my first foray into self-publishing and was a complete accident but it is my second best seller. This is the story of that accident:
A Book Of Poems For The 21st Century: Fifty Poems That Came From My Keyboard
Published: 21 July 2022
This was really to get to know the Kindle software in preparation for my third book. The selections are random, but all my work is excellent so it is still a great anthology.
The Girl With The Sun And Moon: A collection of poems for my wonderful Muse
Published: 7 Aug. 2022
This was a special collection, poems for my Muse and she chose the title poem, which was inspired by a chainsaw carving that stands in Pannett Park in Whitby.
I also used it as a basis of how to publish your stories on Kindle here:
There Is a Darkness: Fifty-One Slices of Dark Poetry
Published: 1st March 2023
This is how this came about:
I had a discussion with my friend Dharrsheena who runs a Facebook Group "True Crime, Horror Story & Dark Poetry" about dark writing and dark poetry and how most of it was depressing and about personal loss, some justified and some not. I then started writing dark poetry that was not depressing but just disconcerting. These poems took many formats and eventually, I said to her if I could write fifty poems I wiould put them together in a book.
The reason there are fifty-one is that I added my take on Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" to close the anthology.
A Cherry Tree In Autumn
Published: 10th May 2023
This anthology was for my friend Cherri and her daughter Autumn, and I sent them two signed copies which they were over the moon with.
To Fly Free: A Second Book Of Poems For My Muse
Published: 28 May 2024
This is a second book of poems for my Muse. When publishing this I worked out a few more routines to make publication a little easier, and this worked out quite well.
My Morning Star: A Third Book Of Poems For My Muse
Published: 12th December 2024
This was published today and will be a free Kindle Download from Saturday 14th December to Wednesday 18th December.
This has been my most efficient publication so far taking me less than a week to put it together, although I found that to produce a hardback copy it needs to have at least eighty pages.
I have made the writing neater and more compact so it has over forty poems inside it if you wish to check it out.
This has made me more confident to publish a few more, but they will probably be in the new year.
Conclusion
Thank you for reading, but I thought it might be a good idea to share what I have done so far, just in case you want to try it yourself.
