My top 2 skincare ingredients
When it comes to skincare knowledge I haven't really got the best understanding of the various ingredients and products that are available. However, as I said in my last skincare post, Skincare Faves, my job does allow me to try out all sorts of different products (depending on when I'm in the office again). It has also helped me gain at least a little knowledge of how skincare products work by listening to my wonderful colleagues.

Beauty Secret Of My Flawless Skin Revealed
I love myself and my skin. I am often asked by people how I look so good without makeup. It is all because of the skincare regime I follow religiously and the natural products I can swear to. To look beautiful is our right, and it is not about our colors and facial features but just about our flawless skin. Many ignorant people of our generation forget to give the value and nourishment that our skin needs. Yes, our skin also needs food. And as organic food is good for our health, organic products are right for our skin in the long run. I always try to go with organic products.

Radiant Beauty
When I had a 9 to 5 office job in the '80s, I remember plastering my face with several layers of makeup, just like every other female in the office. It was the style. Bright red lipstick, loud cheek blush and starched shoulder pads were the norm, the uniform that announced you were vibrant and bright, one of the hip crowd. Mary Kay was my makeup routine of choice. I had a product for every need, from a problem pimple to a quick pick-me-up face spray atomizer to usher in happy hour after a long day at work. I relied on that little face spritz every evening as I left work. Looking back, it was a precursor to taking off my makeup for the day.

3 Ways to Keep Dry Skin at Bay This Winter
The air is getting colder and the days are getting shorter. More time is being spent indoors, and getting cozy is the name of the game. With the change in seasons, many find comfort in taking longer and warmer showers to ward off the winter chill, cranking up the heat, or burrowing inside warm clothing. While the warmth can feel wonderful, it can also leave you feeling dry, itchy and uncomfortable. It doesn't have to be this way. If you're ready to shed that shrunken wool sweater feeling, keep reading. Here are three ways you can keep dry skin at bay this winter.

The Best Primer
tListen up all my beauty buddies & skincare sisters, I found the best primer ever: your skin! I love a fearless cat eye or a bold lip as much as the next glam-fan, but a solid skincare routine makes me feel invincible. Similar to starting the day with coffee and ending the evening with herbal tea, skincare should be customized for the time of day for ultimate benefits! Let me walk you through my favorite, simple routines night and day for sensitive, combination skin with light scarring & hyper-pigmentation!

Coconut Oil is the Holy Grail
There aren't that many products in existence that you can use for just about anything. Sure, you can use hairspray for your hair, you can use makeup for your face, but could you interchange the two? Nope, unless you count the occasional "I'm out of dry shampoo so let me dust some face powder on my roots," which, let's be honest, doesn't actually work and greases you up even more.

Sunscreen: Stay Youthful
Years ago before I got into skincare, my thoughts on sunscreen were wildly stereotypical. Do I really need sunscreen? Maybe sunscreen is for sunburns only? Do black people need sunscreen? Yeah, it’s cringy to think about really. Now, in my lovely mid-20s, I have found myself raving about it. I have tried various sunscreens since my skin isn’t “sensitive”. Drugstore, high end, makeup infused, even other countries (K-Beauty has amazing products). While that has been an experience, I have tied to narrow down my list to at least 3 interchangeable products.

Need a skin reset?
This cleanser served as a reset for my skin. I’ll admit, I went through a period where I overloaded my skin with too many active ingredients in hopes of getting fast results of even, glowing, smooth skin. It worked for a few weeks but then “out of nowhere,” I noticed breakouts, which was a first for me, and an oily sheen in my t-zone yet a super tight feeling overall in my skin, which wasn’t altogether new but a big sign for me that I needed to change what I was doing.

My Skin And Hair Are So Grateful...And So Is My Pocketbook
Lets just get right into it. It is vital, in my opinion, that every person, not just women, have at least a three step skin care process they do every night before bed, and every morning before you leave for work. I'm a big fan of taking time off from wearing makeup. I do it often. When I worked for a major retail store that is primarily known for their makeup and skin care selection, I still followed the "no makeup" rule on certain days. It also helped my sales in skin care so customers could see that the products actually do work. My face was like a walking advertisement. Lets be real though, there's still that one week a month where my hormones turn psychotic and certain parts of my face break out, it happens. I embrace it. You can't compete with mother nature, she always wins.

Saved by the Stem Cell
Post-breakup Soviet Union countries were not exactly what you’d call a land of plenty. When people struggled to survive, wondering how to put their next meal on the table, such things as teenage body care were simply nonexistent. I remember what a revelation hair conditioner became for my mother and me, when we first bought a bottle. It was, I think, 1995, and we couldn’t stop singing hosannas to the newfound smoothness and manageability of our hair. I still remember it. Purple, lilac-scented, under some obscure label… but forget hair conditioner – we were grateful to have running hot water in the house, which we didn’t have when we first moved to the little suburban village where my parents still live today.
