My skin recently (this is a live photo from my phone, no makeup!)

This cleanser served as a reset for my skin. I’ll admit, I went through a period where I overloaded my skin with too many active ingredients in hopes of getting fast results of even, glowing, smooth skin. It worked for a few weeks but then “out of nowhere,” I noticed breakouts, which was a first for me, and an oily sheen in my t-zone yet a super tight feeling overall in my skin, which wasn’t altogether new but a big sign for me that I needed to change what I was doing.

Very angry skin, I'm holding a cold towel that I had been pressing on my skin

I tried to go back to basics; cleansing with olive oil, which only made me develop little bumps beneath my skin, drinking a lot more water, which only sent me to the bathroom every hour, and adding a hyaluronic acid serum to my routine, which made my skin feel a bit sticky sometimes. That wasn’t the hyaluronic acid’s fault, but that’s a topic for a different time.

The bumps! Tinted moisturizer on my skin

I decided to do the actual work and use my skincare knowledge as a licensed and practicing esthetician. I took a hard look at my routine and noticed what it lacked greatly. Hydration. Hydration in every step of my routine. For background, my skin type is dry (tiny, invisible pores). Quick lesson here: your skin type cannot be changed; if you have naturally “large pores,” they will stay that way. I’m sorry! Clients usually come to me with complaints about their skin conditions, such as dehydration, blackheads, hormonal breakouts, or in my case: combination skin and sensitivity. So the way to “fix” my skin issue was to put hydrating formulas back into my routine; cleansing, toning, serum, moisturizer.

I needed and wanted to find a cleanser with very simple ingredients. One that didn’t involve oils that could potentially clog my pores or leave a residue feeling behind, nothing with acids or essential oils in it that could make my skin even more sensitive than it was already. Instead, I needed something that would lay the groundwork for repairing my damaged skin barrier.

After spending hours in the aisles of many beauty stores, I found it! Here it is! My holy grail skincare product: Kale + Green tea, Spinach, Vitamins Superfood Cleanser by Youth to the People.

It’s intensely hydrating, foaming (for those of you who don’t feel clean without seeing foam), lightly scented, and gentle on the skin. The ingredients are simple and nourishing; it’s (almost) all in the name! Simple ingredients are essential because your skin recognizes these and absorbs them more easily. Not only that but I personally actually feel healthier using this and I’m sure we all know that a big part of skincare is how it makes us feel. That and beautiful packaging.

Had a day where you feel like you could scrape a layer of dirt and sweat off your face with a butter knife? Kale + Green tea cleanser. Had a bad reaction to a new product, and now your skin is red, angry, and tender? Kale + Green tea cleanser. Your oil cleanser left you with a feeling of residue? Kale + Green tea cleanser.

This cleanser works on every skin type; oily, dry, normal, and sensitive. This is huge! For oily skinned people, it takes away excess oil without stripping your skin. Dehydrating your skin can sometimes cause breakouts. This kind of what happened to me; I’ve seen this in many client’s skins too! For dry skin people like me, it provides relief from the feeling that your face may crack if you smile too hard, thanks to the bit of vitamin E in the formula. For normal skin people, if your skin needs a little balancing because you’re noticing a bit of oil in the t-zone or dry patches on your skin, the vitamin C in the formula can help balance that or just give you a nice glow if your skin is feeling a little lackluster.

Once I started using this cleanser, everything changed. My skin cleared and calmed down; I hugged the bottle and wanted to tell everyone about my amazing discovery. So please take my word for it and try Kale + Green tea, Spinach, Vitamins Superfood Cleanser by Youth to The People!
