A Journey Rooted in Dedication and Vision
Born and raised in China, Yue’s musical journey started early, building both technical skill and creative exploration. She ranked among the top 3% of students in the Bachelor of Music in Composition and Compositional Theory program at Xinghai Conservatory of Music, where she was awarded the Merit Student Scholarship. After her completion of music studies in China, she was accepted into the University of Southern California (USC) for the Master of Music in Screen Scoring program where she refined her musical skills under Hollywood veterans like Lolita Ritmanis, Christopher Young and Pete Anthony. These learnings helped her support her innate talent for music, refining her understanding in the subject matter of cinematic scoring at the highest level.
Accolades and Industry Recognition
Yue's musical achievements have helped her accumulate recognition in the international platform. In just few years, she has earned a number of prestigious awards including:
- Second Prize, XIX Donne in Musica International Composition Competition
- Gold Prize, 2025 Mozart International Music Competition (Film Scoring Category)
- Gold Prize, Schubert International Music Competition UK (Film/Game Music)
- Gold Award, China – Exhibition of Innovative Achievements in Art Education (Original Musical)
Her works have been performed by esteemed groups such as Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Loadbang Contemporary Quartet, and Guangzhou Lingnan Choir, cementing her widespread recognition and reputation among orchestral and choral communities.
A Composer Who Bridges Worlds
Yue’s music blends emotion, texture and stylish versatility which can be clearly heard from her art. Ranging from cinematic orchestral drama in The Handmaiden, to the hybrid action pulse of Survive The Maze, to the immersive, ambient intensity of Taurus Rising, her work acts as a testament to her sheer talent and passion in the music. In particular her work on the short film “Choice”, where she held the role as the lead composer, was recognized for its outstanding contributions to the field when it was selected for Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival, and was awarded two awards at the Los Angeles Animation Festival (LAAF).
In addition to those accomplishments, she has scored 18 short films and 9 animated works, showcasing her consistent presence across visual media. Some of her notable original scores include “Sometimes I feel the Bruise”, “Before the Mechanical Man”, “25 Cents”, “Broken Mirror”, “The Time Keeper”, “Say It”, “Cihu”, “Xuan Nu”, and “Echoes”. These works span genres from psychological drama to historical exhibition, illustrating her wide range and adaptability. She has also played a central role as the lead orchestrator behind Nathan Wang’s recent musical project, and the promotional content for the distinguished video game “Crossfire”.
These projects are not anomalies; they are examples of her larger vision: to build musical bridges between past and present, East and West, technology and tradition.
Upcoming Projects and Global Engagement
Looking ahead, Yue aims to expand her artistic impact through upcoming international collaborations, amazing exhibition scores, and a forthcoming original album that explores the mix of oriental instruments with electronic and orchestral vibe. She was also invited to participate in the 2025 Chinese National Orchestration Academic Symposium where she shared insights on orchestration and cross-genre scoring with fellow composers and academics. This represented her standing as an expert in contemporary orchestration and cross-genre composition.
