Writing About Music
What Frank Zappa Said

Introduction
This has been kicked off by the meme you can see above and I don't know if this should be in the Beat Vocal Community or the Writers one. I am a Top Creator (the middle one in the Beat Community) here:

I'm the one in the middle though Vocal refuses to give their Top Community Creators any further exposure, I wrote about the situation here.
I have almost three hundred stories in the Vocal Beat Community which I think are about music but Frank may say I am "Dancing About Architecture", but if you want to read some check them out here:
So, Writing About Music
I have loved music since I was very young and it saddens me sometimes to see people who would rather have Spotify Content than music, but that is the way of the world. I think it may have started when music started to be used for adverts although it was lucrative for me for a few years and adverts do sometimes introduce people to new music, but when Shazam came along my website became obsolete:
I write about a lot of aspects of music, maybe because I am not a musician but I do enjoy music.
My tastes are very eclectic and it both makes me sad and makes me laugh when I hear people who will not countenance any music outside their narrow parameters. I have known people who will not listen to anything but British Heavy Metal recorded between 1974 and 1976. Think how much that cuts out. It's like your diet is only meat and potato pie and Coke Zero, nothing else.
My three hundred Vocal stories so far consist of themed playlists, the music of certain artists sometimes focusing on their lives, single songs, and albums that have impressed me.
Added to that I also include a song in almost every Vocal story that I have published, although recently I have used the AI Music Generator Suno, and it is shockingly good, but maybe that is just because I am not a musician (more a noise maker). This poem has an example:
My musical tastes grew as I grew although grammar school put me off classical music. Still, I regained my love of it when I left school. Here are a few favourites.
Two important pieces about artists are shared below and both replied to me and told me how pleased they were with my stories.
I have just noticed the error in the subheading on the above story, I will change that when I can.
Then I will choose themed playlists where all the songs or artists have a common link. Here are two:
Sometimes I will focus on single albums and here are two that may interest you:
And then I sometimes focus on individual songs, lyrics and poetry. I sometimes show off and include one of my own performances for you to see what I am like.
And another spelling mistake for me to fix in the subheading of the above story.
Conclusion
I don't know if you agree with Frank and think my writing is like "Dancing About Architecture" but I think that I share knowledge with my readers and give them insights into whatever the subject of the particular story is.
The one song I have included is "Architecture And Morality" by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark as it resonates with Frank's statement although may scare people as it veers toward "musique concrete".
Thank you for reading this and I hope you had time to visit one or two of the linked stories as well to get some idea of my music writing, which even Vocal must think is good.

I always enjoy when you "dance about architecture" π
Great work. I am a person who likes all kinds of music. Also, I am a person who likes to read music history through the years from antiquity to the present. My favorite is from the 60's and folk rock. Born in '64 a hippie baby.
Nice work Mike! I have an eclectic taste in music. Love all your musical choices and enjoy listening while reading ππ
I am glad that you enjoy music as is. Music, like all forms of art, is about authenticity.
You have given your readers good reason to doubt Zappa, despite his uncanny charm. He vanished too soon, and so many, lesser lights burn still.
