Two Thousand Five Hundred Stories And A Million Words On Vocal

Introduction

I don't know how to do this, well I do, because I am doing it. This is story number two thousand five hundred on Vocal. I write a lot of poetry and while some of my pieces have hit two thousand words, som have been as little as thirty, so if we say I average four hundred words a story then that is a million words.

My two biggest Communities are Poets and Beat and while I could put this in Poets, I feel it should go in Beat because I want to add a short playlist. It is sort of a Confession and a Writers piece, but they do not have a many of my pieces.

I am a Top Creator in Beat and Confessions, so I will put this in Beat, there I have persuaded myself.

This piece will be six hundred words at least and will include a poem and a playlist with a theme of "Millions".

The Millions Playlist

Dr Hook and the Medicine Show - "The Millionaire" from "Bankrupt"

I'm not too sure when I first heard this but I think my friend Andy Marshall (co-leader with me of The Bok) lent me the album and it showed me how brilliant and funny Doctor Hook were before they hit paydirt.

This song resonates with me and how I feel about myself, except I am still not a millionaire.

Spacehog - "To Be A Millionaire" from Resident Alien

I'm only aware of one Spacehog album, but I do like all of their songs.

The Romantics - "One In A Million"

This is a pure slice of the eighties and is a favourite of many. I am more tha okay with it.

Lana Del Rey - "Million Dollar Man" from "Born To Die"

Fairly languid, but it is Lana Del Rey so you know it is great.

Bob Dylan and The Band - "Million Dollar Bash" from "The Basement Tapes"

I had to include this. The songs on the album were recorded during sessions that began at Dylan's house in Woodstock, New York, then moved to the basement of Big Pink which was used for the name of one of the Band's albums.

While most of these had appeared on bootleg albums, The Basement Tapes marked their first official release.

This song just feels so good and is an excellent way to close this 2,500th Vocal Story of mine.
