A Spooktacular Party!
Halloween. That magical one night of the year when children and adults alike get to play dress-up. For some, it's a night spent going around the neighborhood collecting candy. For others, it's staying up all night watching horror films. This year, let's add some music to our evening.

Ghoulish Grooves!
Halloween season is finally here! Time to finally assemble that ingenious costume you’ve planned all year, stock up on those candy treats, and create that petrifying playlist to get all the creepy creatures showing off their fierce footwork at your upcoming Halloween party. (Is it obvious I am fond of alliteration much?)

Murder Ballads and Ghost Stories
There are things far scarier in life than the tales of monsters and ghouls that spooked us when we were younger. Ghosts from our past: former lovers, regrets for what we wish we had done, or what we wish we had done differently, pain and suffering, and the way we treat each other are much scarier than shadows and loud noises. This playlist highlights some real-life scary situations by being comprised of murder ballads and ghost stories. Though the latter may present themselves in a very different way than those we think of in the traditional sense, they are very much tales of people and scenarios from our past that continue to haunt us today.

The Non-Obvious Halloween Playlist
This is not your upbeat playlist, not that it's very downbeat either. The songs are moody, violent, disturbing, with shades dark humor. Halloween celebrates the weird, the outcast, and the feared. Both grim and smiling faces are suitable. For one night the world attempts to face its fears and laugh at them collectively. Halloween invites us to be different and a little insane.

It's hard to properly celebrate any season without a great playlist. We've all attended parties year after year playing classics like Monster Mash and Thriller. And hey, nothing wrong with that! Here are 10 songs you may not have heard or considered for your Halloween playlist, in case you're looking to (pumpkin) spice it up this year. From chill vibes to absolute bangers, this playlist has got you covered from the pumpkin patch to the haunted house!

The Midnight Hour
The moon is full as a cold crisp breeze wallows through the air. The leaves that were once abundant on the trees fall down gracefully like Olympic divers in a crystal clear pool. It's the time for ghouls, ghosts and a myriad of spooky and creepy creatures to run about. It's the time of year when howls in the wind send shivers down spines. Halloween is upon us. For some it involves door to door candy dressed up as princesses, cowboys and spacemen. For others, it's time to watch scary movies such as: The Shining, Child's Play and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Other still will want to dress proactively either hoping to score or just show off the goods.

Graveyard Smash Playlist Vol. 01
Halloween, otherwise called All Hallows' Eve or All Saints’ Eve is celebrated on October 31. It can be traced back to the ancient Pagan festival of Samhain, where people used to dress in costumes to ward off ghosts. As with most traditions, as time and cultures change and merge, rituals change. Halloween today is a fun festival full of fancy-dress ups, sugar filled jars, and joy. It is no longer about celebrating the dead. It is about celebrating monsters and ghouls and all things spooky. It has nearly been forgotten that Halloween is also the time when the veil between the realms is at its thinnest.

A Clean Spookalicious Soundtrack
Music is my favorite way to connect with the world. Everything I do has a soundtrack. Reading a classic? Orchestral music is playing in the background. Doing calculus homework? Listening to 2000s punk rock helps redirect my anger and frustration. Feeling a little sad? Put some Christmas music on to lighten the mood. Even if I’m not actively doing anything, there is almost always a song playing through my head at any given moment.
