Ten Folk Songs Everyone Should Be Aware Of. Top Story - February 2022.
Julie Lacksonen in her group Vocal Writing Prompts asked for a playlist of ten favourite songs in a favourite genre. My musical tastes are very eclectic, but for this one, I have chosen folk, but this playlist is a drop of water in an ocean of song. Even looking at my choices there are so many artists and songs I have missed but I hope that my choices will make you want to explore the artists in here.

Have Some Ear Candy
A song that came out as a novelty nonsensical doo-wop song in 1962 by The Rivingtons was "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow." After a few oom and mows. you knew for sure that song was going to stay on your mind. It did make it on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Cashbox charts.

The South Asian community has grown by leaps and bounds over the last few decades, ushering in an era where we can now even find authentic Bollywood-style Indian weddings all over America. Indian music has evolved from the days of "Tumhi Ho Bandhu" and "Sare Jahan Se Acha". Today, Indian music has seen immense versatility with a huge variety of genres to choose from. From classical, to pop, rock and hip-hop, Bollywood has it all. And with the digital revolution taking over India in a big way, every other form of art is also fast making its presence felt online.
