Kidney Bingos - The Music Of Wire
Introduction I think I first came across Wire on the "Live At The Roxy London WC2 - Jan - Apr 77" album, where two of their songs, "Lowdown" and "12XU", were featured. The album was a great live punk document but while their sound was very raw, for me, Wire stood out as being different and it turned out that they progressed while generally staying out of the mainstream and are still creating music today.

Music in Colorful Hues
“The Lady in Red” is a song recorded by British-Irish singer and songwriter Chris de Burgh. The song came out as the second single from his album Into the Light. It made Burgh successful and known worldwide. He wrote the song in reference to his wife Diane, who used to come and listen to him at the hotel his parents owned. This song became a hit worldwide and became Burgh’s best-selling single and his signature song. It reached number one in Canada, the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Norway, and Flanders, Belgium. In 1987 it charted in the US and became Burgh’s third UK hit single.

The Wonderful Saw Doctors
Introduction I was first made aware of The Saw Doctors when my friend Mike O'Brien (CEO of Opencast and partner in Mog On The Tyne Cat Cafe) told me about the cover of the album "If This Is Rock And Roll, I Want My Old Job Back" which featured their dads on the front cover and the band on the back cover in identical poses. I was in Sunderland and bought a copy from Volume (another sadly missed record shop) and I completely loved it.

Passion Is No Ordinary Word - The Music Of Graham Parker
Introduction As often happens in these musical appreciation/playlist hybrid Vocal Stories I don't really remember when I first came across the music of Graham Parker. With The Rumour, he was part of the British pub rock movement that set the foundation for the punk explosion of 1977.
