“I Will Always Love You” is a song that was written and originally recorded by American singer and songwriter Dolly Parton in 1973. The song went to the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and was re-recorded in 1982 for the movie “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”. For the 1992 movie “The Bodyguard” American singer and actress Whitney Houston recorded a pop-ballad arrangement. Her version rose to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the single was certified Diamond by the RIAA. It became the best-selling single by a woman in the US. At the Grammy Awards in 1994, Houston won the Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female. She also won a Grammy for Album of the Year for The Bodyguard – Original Soundtrack Album.
“My Heart Will Go On” is a song that was recorded by Canadian singer Celine Dion. It was the theme for the 1997 movie “Titanic”. The song was written by Will Jennings and James Horner. It was released as a single in 1997 and is featured on Dion’s album Let’s Talk About Love and the Titanic soundtrack. The song became Dion’s signature song and is the second-best-selling single by a woman in music history and one of the best-selling singles of all time, The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1998 and at the 1999 Grammy Awards, it won Record of the Year (first time won by a Canadian), Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or Television. In 1998 it won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.
“We Will Rock You” is a song that was recorded by the British rock band Queen. It is featured on their 1977 album News of the World. The song was written by band member guitarist Brian May. In 2009 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The song includes a guitar solo by May and is set in a cappella form with only stomping and clapping as a rhythmic body percussion beat. The song has become a popular stadium anthem at sports events around the world. In 2017 Queen released a Raw Sessions version of the track to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of their album New of the World.
“Too Much Love Will Kill You” is another favorite song by British rock band Queen. The song was written by band member guitarist Brian May, Frank Musker, and Elizabeth Lamers. The song was recorded in 1988 but was not featured in their 1989 album The Miracle. In 1991 after the death of band member Freddie Mercury, May arranged a solo version performing it at The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992. Released as a single the song charted on the UK Singles chart. In the previous recording Mercury sang the lead vocal and the song is featured on the 1995 album Made in Heaven.
“I Will Survive” is a hit song from the 1970s recorded by American singer Gloria Gaynor. It was the sixth single released from her 1978 album Love Tracks. The song was written by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris. It is often regarded as an anthem of female empowerment and also a disco staple. The song made it to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and also charted on the UK Singles chart. It won the Grammy Award for Best Disco Recording and was certified Platinum by the RIAA.
“Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” is a song that was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. It was recorded in 1960 by the American girl group The Shirelles. The song became the first song by an African-American girl group to rise to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song also charted on the UK Singles chart. Carole King also recorded the song and it is featured on her 1971 album Tapestry. In 1999 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
