How long to boil eggs
To hard boil eggs, place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring the water to a boil, then remove the saucepan from heat and cover it with a lid. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for about 9-12 minutes for large eggs (depending on how well-done you like your yolks). After the eggs have finished cooking, drain the hot water and run cold water over the eggs until they are cool to the touch. This will help to prevent the eggs from over-cooking and make them easier to peel. If you prefer softer-boiled eggs, you can reduce the cooking time to 6-7 minutes.
