How long to boil eggs

How to boil eggs easily

By Vishal DhakerPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

To hard boil eggs, place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring the water to a boil, then remove the saucepan from heat and cover it with a lid. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for about 9-12 minutes for large eggs (depending on how well-done you like your yolks). After the eggs have finished cooking, drain the hot water and run cold water over the eggs until they are cool to the touch. This will help to prevent the eggs from over-cooking and make them easier to peel. If you prefer softer-boiled eggs, you can reduce the cooking time to 6-7 minutes.

>̲To make perfect soft-boiled eggs, bring a pot of water to a boil and carefully lower the eggs into the water with a slotted spoon. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook the eggs for 6 minutes for a soft yolk and a set white, or cook for 4 minutes for a slightly firmer yolk.

>̲If you want to make deviled eggs, you can use a small spoon or melon baller to carefully scoop out the yolks after the eggs have been boiled and cooled. Mash the yolks with a fork and mix in your desired ingredients (such as mayonnaise, mustard, and spices) before spooning the filling back into the egg whites.

>̲You can also try using boiled eggs in recipes such as egg salad, potato salad, or chicken salad. For a simple egg salad, mash the boiled eggs with a fork and mix in some mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper.
