One More Game?
“You can’t make money playing video games!” Screams some old man in the distance. He is one of many who live with the outdated idea that playing video games is solely a meaningless pastime. In this day and age playing video games is actually a lucrative business model. There are currently a myriad of people who generate revenue through their love of gaming. Whether it is by live streaming or uploading gameplay, the act of playing games has been shown to be profitable. I intend to break into this market and be successful at it.

To The Gemini I Know
This one is for the Geminis I know. My friends who are born under the twin stars and between the sweltering summer months. Those who exist as two entities within one vessel. The ones belonging to the energetic air sign and ruled by Mercury. Just as the celestial bodies move in our brilliant sky, we move into the Gemini season. May the incoming months bring good fortune to those I know fortuitous enough to be born during this time.

So You Hate Anime?
Do you hate anime? If so then it is most likely due to a fundamental misunderstanding of what anime actually is. A hefty deal of people who dislike anime believe it to be this strange cult-like genre of “cartoons” that only the weird kid in their high school watched or something meant strictly for children because it is animation. Well, they’re wrong and you’re wrong too if you think anime isn’t for you. Anime in its simplest form is just another medium through which stories are told. Anime is not a monolith, however. Just as there are different genres of film and television there are different genres of anime. With that being the case there is bound to be an anime that you would enjoy based on the genres of television that you already adore. Here is a list, organized by genre, of anime that I have personally found enjoyable and I truly believe you’ll enjoy too.

How I Blew My Shot at 20 Grand
Could you imagine losing the opportunity to win 20k? Well if you’re me then you don’t have to use your imagination. It really happened. I blew it; the opportunity of a lifetime. We all know twenty grand isn’t so large of an amount to quit one’s humdrum job and begin a leisurely life as a reclusive author (Don’t judge my dreams and I won’t judge yours!), but it is a sizable amount that could be life changing. I, along with every other vocal plus member, sought this prize and very well believed myself able to obtain it. I think it is fair to say I stood an equal chance of winning as any other fledgling writer on the site. My work stands no grand testament to the advancement of the literary arts (yet), but I know I imbue everything I write with passion. I want my work to reflect who I am, what I’ve learned, what I’ve yet to understand, and most importantly I want my work to entertain those who read it. I believe that to be my downfall in this entire ordeal.

The Immortalization of Bad Deeds
Deafening sirens, sharp pangs of pain, and the heavy scent of blood; The first flashes of life as he awoke. The man found himself on the floor of an unfamiliar chamber, unsure of how he had arrived. All he knew for certain was his name; Elijah. He attempted to rise slowly from the ground, and found no strength in his limbs causing him to tumble back onto his bottom. He remained there a moment longer, content with his body’s betrayal. Something within the room demanded his attention however. It tugged at him so deeply that he was left no choice, but to rise in its pursuit.

The Bravest Girl I Know. First Place in Black in Business Challenge.
When I first met Marisa Rodriguez I had no idea how impactful she would be to my life. At the time she was just a brown skinned, curly haired, skinny little girl who for some odd reason was fond of wearing overalls. She has since grown into an intelligent, practical, and nurturing mother, who is still oddly fond of wearing overalls. Her journey from the heartache of a single parent home, to a woman dedicated to raising her own child in a home brimming with love is one that gives me hope daily. Her sense for business and desire to sell a quality product (which genuinely aids those who purchase it) is something I’ve come to truly admire. Her lifelong battle with mental illness is a lesson I think we all could benefit from. She is someone I believe should be celebrated for rising above what most thought she would achieve.
