Six “ Where in the fuck is he? It’s eleven-thirty. I could kill that little twerp!” Gary sat in the upstairs office of Delcino’s Sports Bar, brooding. Tanner Benjamin had, predictably, decided to take the entire evening off. That was not the agreement. That was not the plan. That was a serious breech of the mores and folkways established between himself, and that little ogre. He looked out the long two-way mirror at the crowded floor. It was Saturday night, it was party time, and they were one man short in the kitchen. That made an already hot, miserable environment that much worse. It was the hostility factor. Every time he had gone downstairs and into the back he could feel it: unhappy employees. It was not what he needed. It was serious violation of--- “The mores and folkways...Tanner Benjamin, you are in serious violation of the folkways.” Three hours from now, Rachel Wasserman would be choking on his monster cock, drunker than a dorm full of sorority sisters, and he would forget about the dickless wonder with the ho-hum expression that had no-showed and left him one man short in the kitchen. He saw this phrase in his mind as if it had been lit up like a Las Vegas sign: ONE MAN SHORT IN THE KITCHEN. It made him want to shit on somebody’s head. He put his palm out and punched it with his curled fist. Daddy had always said you couldn’t trust short guys. “They’re just a tad more vicious, a little sneakier, and psycho. Watch out: they’ll hit you when you’re not looking, sport.” And Daddy was always right about these things.

Just got done re-watching the classic 1980s exploitation horror flick Mausoleum, starring ex-evangelist turned actor Marjoe Gortner, and the delectable Bobbie Bresee, a sadly short-lived scream queen of drop-dead gorgeous Eighties glamour...and demonic tits; in this movie at least. If you can believe that.

Note: I wrote Saturn in Retrograde in 2004, based loosely on the Columbine High School massacre. At the time, school shootings and mass-casualty shooting events were rare. Sixteen years on, they have become all too common. I feel the novel is somewhat prophetic in thatregard. At any rate, it's a real thrill-ride for the reader, the story of a young man and his hostages to fortune on one fast, sexy and ultimately tragic night of violence and bloodshed.

Saturn in Retrograde I Prolog
Note: I wrote Saturn in Retrograde in 2004, in one white-hot week of insoiration. Back then, the subject of violence and mass-casualty shooting incidents was very rare. Over a decade later, it is, alas, all-too-common. This novel was based on a school shooting tragedy of the period. It has become, in our era, I feel a novel that was strangely prophetic. But, you'll have to decided. I plan on posting the various chapters seperately.

The Tricksters
There has always been in Paris (but, alas, found equally everywhere in the world), a class of men whose only job is to live at the expense of others; these bold schemers have many adept maneuvers; there is nothing they do not invent, nothing their minds cannot conceive to bring, either, as they say, "by hook or by crook," or by one means or another, their victim into their cursed nets. While the main bulk of this army works in Paris, their detachments flutter by like birds into the suburbs, scattered in the rural areas, where they travel mainly by cheap public transport; this sad fact firmly established, let us now focus our attention on a nieve young woman, whom it will soon pain us to relate the story of how she was taken in such bold circumstances.

As was well known, Louis loved to attract the most brilliant men from all corners ofthe world, to come and admire the greatness with which he shined across the globe, from one end of it to the other. Thus the king felt the ambassador could bring back, some of the "sparks of glory" of Louis, to his own country, ere he returned.

In all the annals of the Old West, there are few names accorded as much honor and respect as that of Jesse James. The bold, brash young outlaw, an exemplar of derring-do, had an unquenchable thirst for revenge against the system that he felt had wronged him; it lead him to become one of the most notorious outlaws in all of American history, the terror of the craggy, dry-bone, dust-choked and tumbleweed-riddled badlands, up until the point dastardly Bob Ford shot and killed him, while his back was turned and his defenses down, no less. Jesse had been innocently straightening a picture when Ford, a member of his own gang, and his cowardly brother struck, quickly fleeing the residence, running past Zerelda, Jesse's wife, as she came in the door.
