Royal Lightning
Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky. As the clouds rolled by, pink, most people would stop and think. They said their prayers in the dark of night, to avoid a fearful plight. Magic though free, was rare to find. It was almost absent from everyone’s mind. Yet, as the purple clouds danced with the blushing sky, people prayed and chanted, wanting to keep death away in their sleep, hoping to not die.

The blaring of his alarm clock going off, Liam stretched and yawned as he was off to another grueling workday. After having groggily rubbed his eyes, brushed his teeth in the bathroom, and gotten dressed, he drove on his way to work in the silence of his car. Meditating on what music he’d listen to, on his drive in, he selected that heavy metal would be the best fit.

Holding Out
“BECAUSE I SAID SO! THAT’S WHY!” Her voice was high and shrill. It always seemed to be like this. “WELL, FUCK YOU THEN!” He flipped her the bird before slamming the door. Jumping into the jeep, jamming the key in the ignition, he revved the engine. Pressing his foot to the floor, the wheels smoked a bit as he backed out of the driveway into the street.
