Why you must give your best
It's 5:26am. On a Monday. And even though I have work in a few hours, I'm here, putting the finishing touches on this article (I refuse to call it a blog. Deal with it). It's crazy that no more than five months ago, this was lightyears away from my mind. Let alone my day-to-day. I would've called anyone a fool if they told me I would have my thoughts out (t)here for the world to interact with. I now know I was being asinine as it's become evident that writing is part of a serendipitous path that is leading me beyond anything my human brain can comprehend. This whole year has felt like a movie: started off great. Then peripeties occurred. After facing several challenges I gained a new place to call home, a new perspective, and so much more. This is a tiresome conversation to have nowadays. Most people today present themselves as experts on all things concerning others whilst their (self)awareness is inconsequential to mustering the courage to unpack their own baggage and only serves to tuck away their misery. How a long-distance run can change you
Let me get this out of the way: I am not a runner. So why are we here exactly? Well, last year, the Great Manchester Run passed by my flat, and I thought “This looks fun! I’ll do this sometime soon.” Fast forward to about a month ago, I ran a 10k (≈6.2 miles) in 56 mins - with subpar preparation and no athletic background. Was it easy? Heck no. Did I enjoy it?
