Reason First: Owed No Mercy- Michael McDermott
Michael McDermott opened fire on his workplace on the day after Christmas in 2000 in Wakefield, Massachusetts. He claimed that he was instructed to kill Hitler and six Nazi generals by the Archangel Michael. This, of course, was all bunk. Upon further investigation, authorities found that McDermott had drawn up websites directing people on how to mimic mental illness. His whole idea to mow down people has to do with the conceptual scapegoat: money.

Reason First: The Doctor of Deliverance-Jack Kevorkian
Jack Kevorkian was a hero. While the media outlets may have disparaged him as “Dr. Death” and the “Angel of Doom” his work superseded these grisly monikers. By permitting an individual the right to have a say in ending their life in a dignified manner, Kevorkian should’ve been hailed as a trailblazer in the field of assisted suicide.

Reason First: No Purpose, No Life-Andrew Cunanan
The story of Andrew Cunanan may have put a damper on the LGBTQ movemement. Much like black men who actually rape, rob and murder, groups find it hard to chant slogans in support of races and orientations. But this is only a might. Gay men especially have been able to revolutionize the culture and the actions of just one person should not be the be all and end all in the story of people who live that LGBTQ life. Instead of clumping people into groups, the goal ought to be to view everyone as individuals.

The power of the individual is like igniting a match. The single flame could light other matches but the start of it has to remain with the individual match. That is the inner glow of the individual. Each person, each human being is an end unto him or herself. This means that the individual cannot be disposed of in any manner based on the “needs” of others. I learned this fact thirteen years ago and still exhibit the promise.
