Exes and Oh's: Part 22
SERENA Baytown was merely a twenty-two-minute drive from Pasadena, but it might as well have been a different coastal state all on its own. The small businesses in Town Square were charming but still held typical pop shops of goodness. I was shopping for some decor for one of the houses I was renovating at the moment, and I needed something that wasn't an antique piece. Although the farmhouse look was something Texans favored, it just wasn't my style. I needed a fresh look, something that hasn't been done before. Which was why when I saw Red Daddy's Furniture Store awning, I smirked, knowing I just had to go into a store with a name like that.

Exes and Oh's: Part 21
MARLEY Freddy was being discharged from the hospital today. Just in time for Thanksgiving, which was only a few days away. There was still a lot to do and people to invite. I've only gathered half of the ingredients I needed and the rest I'd be getting from Danny's farm. My first stop was my office, to pick up the packages I was expecting. I had ordered a brand new camera with brand new lens and I wanted to try them out during Thanksgiving dinner.

Exes and Oh's: Part 20
SERENA "Michael?" I called for him as I exited the hotel bathroom, holding onto my stomach from the nausea that had been plaguing me all week. I felt a fever coming on and felt like we should go back to Pasadena until this flu passed but he was nowhere in sight as I looked through the spacious living area of the condo. Casa Del Mar was a beautiful retreat and I would've taken advantage of this mini-vacation if the weather looked like it would cooperate. I could see the clouds clustering together in the sky from the floor to ceiling windows, as the thunder crackled and the rain began to fall.

Exes and Oh's: Part 19
MARLEY "Thanks for helping me out this weekend, Danny," I mentioned as we pulled up to the Casa Del Mar Beachfront Condo Hotel. The dark gray clouds were a sign of heavy rains fixing to come, which meant my plan for this weekend was definitely going to work.

Exes and Oh's: Part 18
SERENA I still love you. Those were the words that swayed the judge to Daniel's side, refusing to allow this marriage to be annulled when I presented my case and for me not to be granted the deed to the property for my project. I wanted to scream. I wanted to hit something. All that money I spent for the permits and inspections went right down the drain the second that damn judge decided Daniel's words were more valid than my own.

Exes and Oh's: Part 17
MARLEY Since the moment I had heard about Freddy's accident, I had thought about what to say to him. A million different words crossed my mind but none of them would hide the fact that I was still in love with him. He would know. The second he opened his eyes and saw me here, sitting at his bedside, holding his good hand, he would know just how much I still cared. I had a whole life planned without him in it, and now after almost losing him for good, he made me realize how complicated that was going to be.

Exes and Oh's: Part 16
SERENA I hated hospitals. The overwhelming sterile and quiet sadness it held was too thick for me to handle. But I couldn't move from the uncomfortable seat I was in. Michael had fallen asleep on my shoulder and Daniel was fast asleep on my lap. Marley had gone to see if Freddy was awake now that Becca had gone back home. She'd been complaining non-stop about the emergency room being boring. The purpose of a hospital got completely lost in translation for that woman, and it managed to wear the boys out enough to fall back asleep.

Exes and Oh's: Part 15
MARLEY Normally, I slept soundly, peacefully, with no worry in the world. Tonight was different. I could feel it in the air, in my gut. Something was wrong. Tired of tossing and turning, I got up from my bed and grabbed my robe, snuggling into the thick fabric as I exited my bedroom and headed towards the kitchen. The house was dark, but I knew my way around enough to reach the refrigerator unscathed. While I decided on whether to make some hot chocolate or tea, I heard my phone ring in my bedroom and glanced at the time on the clock above the fireplace. It was two in the morning.

Exes and Oh's: Part 14
SERENA My Saturday mornings consisted of sleeping in until noon and then doing some much needed laundry. Unfortunately, Daniel and I had to pay Whisper Street a visit and figure out what was next on this murder train. After I paid Gabe's grave a visit and planted some new flowers, I headed over to Garry's Garage, where Daniel worked on the weekends, which was less than a mile from my own office. I agreed to pick him up since his truck was getting a new paint job and we were heading over to Marley's house afterwards to relay all the information we found at our old farmhouse anyway.

Exes and Oh's: Part 13
MARLEY Photography was often a hobby I turned to on the days where words weren't enough to express how I felt. So I took it upon myself to capture anything and everything that held both beauty and melancholia at this old and abandoned beach house near Sylvan Beach on Bayshore Drive. I ran into its owner at the supermarket the other day and since we're both photographers at heart, she handed me the keys and offered to let me take pictures whenever I felt like it. Since I was taking time off from the magazine and everything else for that matter, I figured I'd take the time to go back to my first love, taking photos.

Exes and Oh's: Part 12
SERENA One acre, two stories, fifteen hundred square feet, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a front porch. Minus the married couple who made too many promises within its walls to keep up with them. Daniel and I shared a look as we joined each other just outside the fence of our old farmhouse. The landscaping looked like it hadn't been taken care of for a couple of days, but other than that, the house looked as if it had just been built yesterday. A fresh coat of white paint had been given to the exterior, and it contrasted well with the new black shutters that had been recently installed.

Exes and Oh's: Part 11
MARLEY The dance floor wasn't usually the first place I went to when I arrived at a party. It was amazing how much two cups of hard liquor could do to a person. I was halfway wasted and the music was flowing perfectly, every melody and rhythm forcing my hips to sway and shout every chorus. Michael kept up with me until the liquor had gotten to him too soon and he was now upstairs puking in the bathroom. I had asked him if he needed help, but he claimed he was perfectly fine. Why were men so stubborn, and bad? Sooooo bad. And sexy. Very sexy.
