Petrichor: Chapter 3
MICHAEL Doing payroll was the most boring job in the entire world besides being a librarian. Now that shit made me fall asleep just watching them give out books. But payroll was my job at Danny's shop and if he trusted me enough with all this shit, then I had to do it. I couldn't let my boy down. Lucky for me, Jesse was helping me out today so I'd be able to head to Marley's Bed and Breakfast by noon. She had a full house for the week and adding wedding planning to the mix only made her crazier, so I had no choice but to help take some of the stress off her by showing up with something nice.

Petrichor: Chapter 2
SERENA During the last five years in hiding, we lived on the coastal side of Colombia, in Palomino. It was a smaller town on the Carribean where the population was small and the cost of living was low since the city it resided in was a magnet for hurricanes. Fortunately for me and the boys, a close family friend of mine had offered up his fortress up in the hills as a safe place to stay in until it was time for us to head back to Texas.

Petrichor: Chapter 1
Daniel Five years of waking up with hangovers and you'd think I'd be fucking used to it by now. My head felt like a damn bowling ball as I lifted it off my pillow and rubbed my eyes open, fixing my junk as I headed to the bathroom to get ready for work. When I opened the door, steam blew out, and I waved it away as the silhouette of a woman exited my shower. Shit. I must've been beyond wasted to take whoever this chick was back to my place. I don't remember the last time I touched a woman, much less liking her enough to let her stay till morning.

Life After Love: Part 17
Serena Today was the day we'd finally know Michael's fate in this drug trafficking trial. Perfectly inconvenient, if you asked me, since Daniel and I were supposed to renew our vows tomorrow. He might not even be in the mood considering his best friend might be going to the slammer for a long time. Either way, the venue had our deposit, and I cursed when I felt my phone vibrating in my purse as I headed towards my car. Marley and Daniel were waiting for me at the court house, and I was almost sure it was her calling to make sure I was still coming. To my surprise, it was the women's correctional facility in Galveston calling. The only person I knew in there was Becca, and I wondered why she was reaching out today out of all days.

Life After Love: Part 16
Marley A trip to Mexico is just what I needed to relieve the stress that had been giving me gray hairs all week. Jesse and I managed to crash a few beach parties, drink and dance until morning, and ended up with one of the worst hangovers we've had in a while. Drinking all night was fine in your early twenties, but pushing thirty almost made the hangover last longer somehow, as if my body just couldn't handle all the alcohol I was pouring into it. We did, however, gather ourselves enough to get sober on our drive back to Pasadena. It was six in the evening by the time we got to Pasadena. The sun beamed on my car as we breezed through the open country road. Lucky for us, my air conditioning was functioning well, considering the last heatwave of the season was still plaguing us.

Life After Love: Part 15
SERENA "I don't think I've ever seen anything so sexy," my husband's compliment only made me chuckle as I stared up at him from the rim of my glasses. He stood in the doorway of my new home office, located near the guest bedroom, as he marveled at me while I breast fed Zander. I continued to finish up some closing contracts for the properties I managed to sell within a week as Daniel made his way towards me, placing soft kisses along my neck the second his lips touched my skin. It definitely helped to relieve some of the stress managing all of these renovations gave me. The past couple of months trying to finish renovating all of these properties at the same time were exhausting, but in the end, it paid off. We now had close to $500,000 in our joint account and I couldn't wait to head back out there to re-invest and double that amount in the next few months.

Life After Love: Part 14
MARLEY Food was the only thing I had gotten right this week. I made the perfect carne asada with some rice that just soothed my anxious soul and after the lousy seven days I just had, it hit the spot. The recent payment I had received for an engagement photo session that was supposed to be featured in my magazine had to be refunded, only due to the fact that my new camera had been on the wrong setting the entire time, and I had to take the complaints along with the loss of funds for the week. On top of that, the printers weren't working for three days straight, so I had to run down to the local hardware store, which was the only place with a decent printer in this area. That alone had occupied half of my mornings, which left me no time for laundry, or to change the oil in my car, or to even go to lunch with my damn boyfriend.

Life After Love: Part 13
SERENA I had no idea Freddy knew this many people, but it seemed the entire town had decided to crash his birthday party. They even stayed until after the cake had been administered to the guests, drinking and dancing up until it was time for the clean up crew to take over. The highlight of the evening had to have been a surprise visit from the parents and the little boy who Freddy had saved, along with their dog and the older children as well. Freddy wasn't a crier, but there were definitely tears in that man's eyes the moment he saw the little boy, who's name was Dean, run into his arms to thank him.

Life After Love: Part 12
MARLEY During summer, the days were longer. In Texas, they went on forever. I was up to my last errand of the day, before heading back home to change for Freddy's birthday picnic. I'd been planning it all week despite my heavy work load and I expected everything to go off without a hitch. I sent the invitations via mass text and most of the people I invited had secured their RSVP's except for two. I already knew Danny and Serena were going, but they hadn't RSVP'd yet and I felt as if they purposely do it just to tick me off.

Life After Love: Part 11
SERENA The appetites for twin baby boys was no joke. I've been breastfeeding for at least two hours now, back and forth, back and forth. My nipples were raw and I needed a break. I pumped what I had left in me into a few bottles for the middle of the night, which was when they loved to wake us up. I had no idea why we even bothered to have a damn nursery when they just kept sleeping with us.

Life After Love: Part 10
MARLEY Zander and Zack were both born at two pounds and two ounces, with beautiful dark wavy hair, brown eyes that were blessed with long lashes and a healthy complexion mixture of both Danny's caramel tone and Serena's fair tone. Unfortunately for us, we couldn't spend much time with the twins, since they've mostly been in incubators, growing stronger by the day for the last month and a half. The rest of the group and I came to visit them every day, and to make sure Danny and Serena had all the support they needed. Freddy and I had been busy making sure their house was stocked with all baby necessities since they came a little earlier than expected. Serena, Danny, and I were just about to decide on a final paint color for the nursery, when Freddy entered the hospital room, the twins tucked into each of his arms as he held them against his chest.

Life After Love: Part 9
SERENA "I know what you're trying to do and it's not going to work." Daniel's blatant comment as I placed the dishes in the dishwasher only made me roll my eyes. I didn't see anything wrong with inviting our friends over for dinner. Kyle and I still talked. And apparently, Jesse wasn't going anywhere. I saw no harm in introducing them to each other. And if it turned out they liked each other and happened to move to Alaska, I wouldn't mind that either.
