AT Nanu Vadhyar’s house next door they had recently bought a pile of tamarind firewood. It must have come from there, this snake. After a lengthy price negotiation in the morning, punctuated with protests of, “What, Saami, you’re leaving me with nothing to eat... look at the wood, see how fine it is...” the cartman finally unyoked the bull and tilted the cart to unload the firewood.
