Wishful Thinking
My dearest friends and family, It will come as a surprise to some of you and perhaps perplexing to all, but consider this my two weeks notice. There are standards that I hold myself to based on your needs and wishes, and it should come as a shock to no one that I cannot meet them.

The Biggest Obstacle
Incident Report Albien Institute October 26th, 2033 14 hours since the incident Let the record reflect that my ability is not without flaw. It does not make me omniscient. I am no god. Although some of the people in this report appear awfully close to one. I have done my best to imbue this report with as much of my ability as I can, but even I cannot see into everyone’s mind. As previously stated in my personnel file, I cannot see memories unless presently thought about, and my ability only allows me to see perspectives after I meet the person physically. Seeing through a person’s perspective usually distorts fact with bias and emotion, but where objectivity failed us during our attempts to secure the asset, subjectivity perhaps will fill in the gaps.

How to Answer An Omen
In truth, Clarissa hadn’t really been in the mood for Chinese food anyway, which was unusual in itself because she loved Chinese food. When she was just eight years old, she used to beg her mom to take her to the Dragon Dumplings restaurant by leaving its menus in conspicuous locations. But in spite of her reluctance, they pulled up to the restaurant with little ceremony. Clarissa’s mom had called her friend Louisa, who was already inside, waving at them through the darkly-tinted windows.

The Preservation of Something Not Yet Gone
The preservation of something not yet gone. There’s some people that always feel like they’re going to live forever. My grandmother is not one of them. Since she was in her late 80s, she has felt the weight of her age in her bones, and although she has remained as sharp as a tack, the frailty of her body has grown more and more obvious. This past year, she turned 100 years old. Even in the celebration of that number, the dread of her death is every present. Not many people live that long. Not many people want to.

Don't Hold Your Breath for It, Breathe It into Life. . Runner-Up in New Year, New Projects Challenge.
So many people will say that you can’t before you even begin. It’s too hard, too unlikely. The odds are against you. They don’t say to give up on your dreams, just put them to the side. They told me I could be a writer, but it might have to only be on the weekends. It was more important to find a job that pays the bills.

A Fluffy Friend
The basement was always cold. New England winters weren’t often kind, and the concrete of the foundation felt like ice between the toes. We had central heating of course, but not enough to warm the concrete, and it was often slow to come on if the rest of the house was warm.
