Long ago, a little girl loved to write. She loved to explore the depths of her mind and create the impossible. That little girl still sits in the back of my mind waiting to pursue those dreams. I am now 39, a wife, and a mother of three.

True Crime
Finally, it’s that time of day when all the chaos has settled down. It’s 9:00 on a Tuesday night. No more kids fighting or asking a thousand questions. No more being pulled in different directions for multiple projects needing to be finished by tomorrow. The dinner dishes have been washed and the kitchen is clean. The kids are in bed and the husband is working late. It is just me, a glass of wine, and the remote control.

The Land of Enchantment
Dulce, New Mexico, located on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation is where I called home for twenty years. I was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, but when I was six months old, my parents relocated to Dulce. My father received a job offer from the tribe for an accounting position. Because my mother had been working in Cheyenne as a nurse, it was no trouble for her to find work in the medical field working for the Indian Health Services and later as the director of the EMT's.

What Resolution Really Means
Resolution. We throw this word around so often without really realizing the real meaning behind it. So many people use this word to change something they don’t like about themselves. According to the dictionary, there are six different definitions of this word. This will be a dissection of the different meanings of the word resolution and how they intertwine with each other to make having resolutions work for you. I will then share with you what my resolution is.

A Cry In Aisle Three
Before Andrea opens her eyes, she feels it, the rigid cold air around her. If not for her warm sanctuary under her comforter, she would be freezing. She buries herself further under the covers dreading getting herself out of bed. She tries to cuddle up next to her husband, Will, though she is rebuffed when he rolls over attempting to steal the whole comforter. Defeated, she opens her eyes. The clock on the nightstand reads 5:30am. Reluctantly, she sits up, moaning and shivering. As she sits on the side of the bed, her feet feel for her shearling-lined slippers. Eventually, she locates them and even manages to get each one on the correct foot. She forces herself to stand. Although she is wearing flannel pajamas, she still holds herself and occasionally rubs her upper arms to stay warm. She makes her way across the room to the window. It is still dark outside, but she can see that everything is covered in white, the wind is blowing hard and she wonders if it is still snowing or if the wind is just blowing the snow that has already fallen.

The Angel
Bedtime. The most wonderful time of the whole day. It is the time I finally get to unwind from all the days activities. It becomes so peaceful in the house. No kids fighting or yelling. No laughing or playing video games. No banging on the drums and keyboard. No Mommy, Mommy, Mommy! Just peace and quiet.

A Daddy For Hannah
She regains her balance after pulling herself onto the roof. Although, she has scraped herself many-a-time on the rough shingle tiles getting to her favorite place, she is now an expert at achieving this feat and now does it scrap-free. This sanctuary of solitude provides a place where she can let out all her frustrations, dream that she is a princess held hostage in a tower about to be rescued by her knight in shining armor, or just be left alone to gaze at the vast universe above. The summer months make it comfortable to sit out under the stars and imagine how different things could be. As she settles in, she waits for the next shooting star to appear so she can make her wish. Most times she is left disappointed, but tonight, she sees it, the unmistakable streak of light shooting across the sky. “There it is! There it is!” She exclaims out loud, almost losing her balance jumping up and down in excitement. “I knew I would see you again!” Careful not to take her eyes off of the shooting star, she says, “Daddy, I miss you. Oh, Daddy I miss you so much! Come back to me, please?"

Fond Memories
“C’mon, Nancy, you can do it,” Nancy says to herself as she jabs at the keys on the keyboard. Obviously, the computer is not doing what Nancy wants it to do. She starts mumbling under her breath, feeling even more frustrated that she has not been able to accomplish what she needs to get done.

Broken Without You
My Dearest Ruth, I trust this letter finds you in good health. The thoughts of you and I are like a constant symphony in my mind playing the same song repeatedly. I yearn to feel you, to touch you the way we once did. I am saddened at the thought of laying my eyes on you, yet unable to encapsulate your body with mine. The tips of my fingers crave the shape of your womanly curves. To taste your sweet lips again is the reason for my living. I would love to run my fingers through your hair, pull you close to me, and passionately kiss you, showing you how deeply I care for you. However, again, I must fold this letter and put it in this envelope and leave it in our secret place. One day soon, I will ravish your body and never let you go.
